Live/Psn have had numerous issues all year. How many times has psn been down this year? Live has had constant problems for me. Isit so hard to believe a few million consoles connecting at the same time would affect it more than usual?

Yeah and that's mostly "hackers" to blame for.

Yes. If it was only normal traffic we would be able to log in occasionally. Now it's been constantly down for almost two days.

Are the servers on the separate consoles different? Because I've had netflix on almost non-stop on ps3 with no outages.

Netflix works without PSN sign-in. It's been working for me too on PS4 despite PSN not working
