Yes but you're not accounting for everyone else on the planet, for every person that spouts a claim of majority there is a failed checked with the total population and while I do know it's impossible to take on such a task of asking and checking with everyone but I also find it mind numbing to see a made up tally and simply assume everyone feels the same about one company by default from a few.

I've seen bad things happening with all 3 companies, yet I see one getting excused and defended at all times, another being penalised and downplayed on a near constant basis with the third being pitied on or desired to be assimilated with the defended company.

I don't find one console winning a gen encouraging at all, from that I only see a monopoly building with less choice in the mix since it means one console winning and getting everything makes that console the only choice to be made and not everyone wants to make said choice (I know I don't), I prefer all 3 consoles doing well and having their own unique selling points and profits than one beating the other two and leaving only one choice left.

Also I don't recall anything from MS getting good wins last gen, in fact I don't remember any grats or positive news about them and of course if there were even a slither of good news it;s to be instantly trumped by current news when it comes to Sony, especially when some site users love comparing it to the Wii in terms of units, sales and overall profits.

I'd love to see Nintendo doing better as always, after all they have currently won me over to grabbing a Wii U first over the PS4 and XB1 but I have my doubts that even if they did do "better" I can't see it being praised as much as what Sony gets let alone having constant remidners being given out.

I know not everyone feels the way I and many on this site do about the industry. I suppose its like a sports team that one roots for. its all for fun tho we can be over the top at times. We love our Mario, Kirby, metal gear and final fantasy. It fun to root for what we like!

I was never a "fanboy" of any company. I Liked every company that had to do with gaming even MS, until they interfered with the video game industry...

I have no problem acknowledging that the US market is competitive enough for price to be a factor. If price was not a factor then xb one would have come 2nd in November. Also there's really no if about a price cut. The only question is when in 2015 and how much? We know that at price parity PS4 wins. And quite possibly if the price difference is <$50 PS4 may still win.

im not even from the us, but saw tons of ps4 commercials on us networks
just watch 1 football game and u will see a ps4 or xb1 commercial 50/50 chance

Ummm you realize that 80% or more of those the average person(meaning the poeple who buy the most consoles) have absolutely not one single clue what those titles are?

 

I always laugh at people throwing these lists of games around.  People buy games they know about....they don't blow $60 on bizarrely named stuff they have no clue what it's about.  

Oh those lists are wonderful for power users however there's just not that many power users.

for the most part you are right. Having a game for every lil' niche adds up tho over a console's life time to potentially be millions. a few thousand here and there adds up over 10 years.

At the same price the PS4 should win because its better hardware. I dont think the Xbox One should have ever been more expensive or same price as PS4.  Even now I think the Xbox One should be $299. Actually it should have launched at $299 with the Kinect sku at $399.

To be fair, about 50% of that list will attract the average buyer, and that is not an insignificant amount.

Sorry don't agree.  Great packaging, word of mouth, for sure knowledge(ie used a previous version), good marketing are going to sell games.

 

Looking at a list...not so much.  

 

As for 3rd party...I see that market becoming much much more focused.  There's a lot of crap out there that is getting bought and people are getting burned by it.  Expect backlashes due to this(see reasons listed above).
