Some changes I would make on my list:
1992 Street Fighter II
1993 Mortal Kombat
1997 Final Fantasy VII
2001 Grand Theft Auto III / Metal Gear Solid 2
2005 God of War
2008 Uncharted 2
2013 Grand Theft Auto V

Can you name a better 2012 game than Xenoblade?

We'll just have to agree to disagree, then. I understand your perspective on the issue, and, believe me, I appreciate everything GoldenEye represents. I just think Halo is more influential, all things considered. |
how is Halo more influential than Goldeneye when it wouldn't even EXIST without Goldeneye building the foundations?
This list is crap. Sorry, I had to say it. My list:
2001: GTA III (Halo: CE is an awesome game, but not nearly as revolutionary as GTA III)
2002: GTA: Vice City
2003: Need For Speed: Underground
2004: Halo 2
2005: God Of War
2006: Resistance: Fall Of Man
2007: God Of War II
2008: Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns Of The Patriots
2009: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
2010: God Of War III
2011: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
2012: Halo 4
2013: Grand Theft Auto V
2014: Far Cry 4

Some games that actually got GOTY: Journey, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, The Walking Dead, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Asassin's Creed 3, Halo 4.
I mentioned that I disagreed with this list, with these three being the exception:
1990 - Super Mario Bros. 3
1991 - Super Mario World
1997 - Goldeneye 007
However, I haven't played many games earlier in the 90's except the first two, so I can't judge the ones between 1992 to 1996. But I can start at 1998, since by then I was really starting to get into videogames and I got a PlayStation.
1998 - Metal Gear Solid
1999 - Soulcalibur
2000 - The Sims
2001 - Grand Theft Auto III
2002 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
2003 - Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
2004 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Tied with Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)
2005 - Resident Evil 4
2006 - The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
2007 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
2008 - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
2009 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Tied with Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time)
2010 - Mass Effect 2
2011 - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
2012 - Mass Effect 3
2013 - The Last of Us
2014 - Dragon Age: Inquisition
Might as well give this a go from when I started gaming:
1995: Jumping Flash!
1996: Command & Conquer
1997: Final Fantasy VII
1998: Metal Gear Solid
1999: Final Fantasy VIII
2000: Spyro: Year of the Dragon
2001: Pikmin
2002: Wild ARMs 3
2003: SSX 3
2004: Metal Gear Solid 3
2005: TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
2006: Ape Escape 3
2007: World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade
2008: WipEout HD
2009: Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
2010: Atelier Totori
2011: LittleBigPlanet 2
2012: Final Fantasy XIII-2
2013: Hotline Miami
2014: Trigger Happy Havoc: DanganRonpa

From that list only Far Cry 3 and Borderlands 2 would come close to Xenoblade imo.. Also, Skyrim is a 2011 game!

people here got their feelings hurt by Nintendo somehow.
And I agree with most of it, but 2013 is all about The Last of Us imo. And others things, but I'm lazy to confirm the right year
