1. That argument is just as bad as discrediting the Wii by using Wii U sales numbers.

2.-4. All of that can be summed up as a continuation of a trend, so Halo was merely a piece in the middle. You even brought up Red Faction and Medal of Honor which predate Halo, so the rising popularity of FPS on consoles was already well underway.

How does it make any sense to say that a game that sold 6.43m was more important in establishing FPS on consoles than a game that sold 8.09m four years earlier? On top of that, the N64 was a more popular system than the Xbox too. Wouldn't it make much more sense to say that Halo owns it appearance on Xbox to the success of GoldenEye? After all, Halo was originally supposed to launch on Mac, but Microsoft realized that a (console) exclusive FPS could be a big deal thanks to GoldenEye, one of the bestselling games in the USA back then.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, then. I understand your perspective on the issue, and, believe me, I appreciate everything GoldenEye represents. I just think Halo is more influential, all things considered.

how is Halo more influential than Goldeneye when it wouldn't even EXIST without Goldeneye building the foundations?
