Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo reiterates that some amiibo are unlikely to be restocked after selling through initial shipment due to limited shelf space

Well that's disappointing. They seem to be selling very very well.

Though kids would rather walk in a store and see something they like and then nagg their parents for it.

Yeah but that doesn't work for characters like Marth and Wii Fit Trainer, or a generic avatar like Villager, that kids can't immediately identify and obsess over. The online store would be for Nintendo's most loyal customers that are collecting, or buying because they love the series in question and are seeking it out. And anyways shopping is moving to digital slowly but surely anyways with kids being introduced to online devices and thus online shopping earlier and earlier in life.

I think doing reprints every so often would be smart. Imagine 4 months after you saw your last marth figure and bam, new restock appears for a while. Thats the kind of thing that keeps people hunting.

However those 2nd and 3rd tier characters are the ones that they need to get out there so that people get used to them and buy their games. Nintendo really needs to play this the right way for maximum effect.

Not a good idea. Just keep selling them from your online store. Problem solved.

Business antics probably. Build up the hype on models being rare or very time limited (what is it, out a month now?) and in the future even exploit this by saying you better get this one and this one fast because it might just sell out. In the meantime they'll bring them back later on to not disappoint people. Wash, rinse repeat, profit.

You can't have all the Smash characters as Amiibo's selling at the same time so having limited runs for the less iconic characters is logical. Although it does seem like someone is trying to inflate demand on these figurines.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I was thinking that, Nintendo should just put a TV screen, to show the amiibos if they have stock or not.
then at the top or bottom of the TV screen, it will have a display case of all the amiibos. (unpacked or not)

The Tv screen can be touch screen too, to slide to see the other amiibos.

Then the customer will just go to the counter to ask for the certain amiibo

What do you guys think?
