It underperformed comapared to what? GoW3? Well duh. That was a beloved masterpiece and sold like 6.5m+ which is crazy.

Ascension has sold around 2.5m at retail to date (GFK & NPD suggest it's heavily undertracked) and that's not including digital. It's a prequel nobody wanted, only averaged 81% and multiplayer was the main focus, despite this it's still going to sell 3-3.5m lifetime. 4th or 5th in the genre of all time. It did very well.

Gears of War: Judgment is the example you were looking for.

And yeah, I imagine Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is undertracked, fun game!

It sold terribly even compared to the PSP game which wasn't surprising in the slightest. GOW3 was a huge let down and interest in the franchise plummeted after that. Didn't help that Ascension was even worse still.

This new one they're making will surely flop just the same. They should just let it die.

How was GoW3 a huge let down? Not only is it the highest selling one in the series by far but it's also 90+ on meta...

Judgment did fine. Its a spinoff with zero hype / marketing and completely different gameplay/online. It should have been DLC. Ascension regardless of how you spin it was supposed to be the next step / continuatuion of the series. With a multimillion dollar SB spot, I guarentee Sony expected it to sell 5M.

It isn't an issue, unless you can provide proof that it is undertracked. Just saying it didn't sell as much as other instalments in the franchise proves nothing at all.
