Forums - Nintendo - Could Network Nintendo handle a hack?

I am pretty sure they can "handle" a hack when it comes to personal information provided they aren't up against North Korea cause then, who knows but it probably won't be any worse than what the other two companies have gotten in terms of stolen info. Yes, Nintendo is "behind the times" when it comes to their Online but they to have to have a number of security measures put in place unless they really want a lot of lawsuits in the future

I do find it quite interesting that they havn't been hacked even once yet... Like, man, the hackers really dont care about them now do they? loll

Long time gamer, and new haha :)

But I believe Nintendo was hacked around the same time Sony and MS were hacked. But unlike Sony, MS and Nintendo actually didn't store their data in plan text files on their own servers . So the story goes...

The ClubNintendo (Japan) did get hacked once. And that was solved pretty fast and nothing to dangerous IIRC.

OT: Dear God; if they are not ready for some kind of hack attack, I might as well give up on Nintendo.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Even the companies that can handle hacks can't. So if some group wanted they could make nintendo vulnerable just like the rest of the companies.

I don't really see the incentive to hack Nintendo Network other than sending a message.

Who would want to hack nintendo in the first place?

OT: If MS can fall victim to hackers, I don't see how NN would fare any better.

I think Nintendo are less likely to be a target simply because they are game-centric and not really a mega-corporation.

Secondly the features that Nintendo offers on their online service has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of their network security, the two are not even vaguely related. For all we know they could have the best security of all three and that's why we've never heard of any hacks. Given how strongly Nintendo goes about defending their intellectual property it wouldn't actually surprise if that were the case.

It's crazy if these people manage to get a hold of moderation rights on Miiverse, or take a hold of Sakurai's Miiverse account...

That said, I do think the reason behind Nintendo not having a more robust online network is security.
