That is exactly why they didn't release yet.They need to cover the development costs and most people seems to be waiting for the free version.

Free? This game keeps on giving. I got it because it was cheaper to get a PS4 with this game than without, and I've had a fantastic time playing it and they keep adding new content for free.

I've been waiting for the PS+ version, with the intention of buying it if I liked it. I might just skip the PS+ and go straight to buying it. Game looks fantastic.

There are free updates in Jan and Feb that add a new car and a new track each, and then a new car each month up until June. They messed up the launch but their support since has been very good
