Forums - Sony - DriveClub weather and challenges are now live, 2 more tracks

Reviews are a snapshot of the game on a given day.  I totally agree it would be great if all games worked perfectly on day 1 and there should be reviews which accompany the releases.  Its just when issues are found on day 1 the reviews for that game slate them and give them bad scores which impacts on sales and in some cases the actual existance of the franchise and/or companyetc.  When those issues are corrected and the game improved soon after releaseI feel the reviews should be updated to accompany them.

When someone comes along to buy the game a month or two down the line they will be able to make an informed decision based on the game as it currently is rather than a game which could be totally different at release.  With regards your commend Dernebel about being incentiveised to release good games...reviews can be used to do that but by the same token should be used for developers to continually improve and better the games once they are out.

Tracks and most of the cars were supposed to be free from the beginning. I don't know if they have decided to give everything for free.

November premium content was given for free, and they said they would add another month to the season pass premium content. So should be running until July now. There is still an entirely new location coming as free dlc, rumored to be Japan.
I'm very tempted to get the season pass for December's content, the dlc has been top quality so far.

Some more juicy gifs

Good thing I know the tracks already, would hate to have driving lessons in that :)

Will have to play it again and be amazed all over again.

I don't particularly care for how the cars control and the AI is awful, but the weather may just get me to jump back into it.

What are you saying? The car controls are wonderful for an arcade racer, and AI is subjective, though its always quite aggressive in Evolution's games.

I'm saying what I've experienced. I just don't like how any of the cars handle. The mixture of arcade and real world physics just aggravates me. It could be due to me only playing sims for the last few years, but I just don't like controlling the cars. I will say that drifting is very rewarding in this game.

There is a difference between aggressive AI and moronic AI. I think it all has to do with how the game handles rubber banding (worst I've seen). And the ramming from behind (heh) when coming (heh heh) into a corner is just ridiculous. Even on straight aways the AI will ram you instead of trying to pass you cleanly.

If you compare it with sim games you'll obviously be disappointed. That said the weather makes driving more of a challenge so you might like it.

Have you played any MotorStorm game before? They were developed by the same studio and had terrible rubber-banding. You can say that rubber-band and aggressive AI are trademarks of Evolution's games lol. But that's part of what makes them different and special to me.

I'm not necessarily comparing it to sims, but in the genre of racing games, I can only reference my recent experiences with sims and to an extent GTA. I'm not expecting the cars to handle exactly like their real world counterparts, but I just think the distinction between arcade and sim needs balancing one way or the other.

Yeah, Motorstorm was one of my favorite games back in the day, and now that you mention it, the rubberbanding feels a lot like that game. The problem is it seems like they pulled it right from Motorstorm without doing any adjustments, a game where it was encouraged to run opponents off the road and wreck them. This game penalizes you if you rear end someone, so it annoys me that they make it so that the AI intentially crashes into you. They're also too heavy handed in their approach to try and make the races close. If you're in the lead, the AI gets an insane speed boost. If you're behind, they start driving like 80 year olds until you catch up. I also hate that when the AI opponents ram each other off the road, they rarely if ever take more than half a second to recover.

Ah well, I still have fun with the game in short bursts, but the issues I have with the game outweigh the money I spent on it.

Sorry to hear that adrianne. I'm a GT fanatic and loved that the AI is agressive (even if that is bothersome sometimes. On GT I would quickly pass all and vanish, at least here they keep me on my toes on harder tracks with their insane improvement whenever I pass them.

This game just went from from mediocre to freaking awesome, while single handily destroying any racer graphically.

I cant wait for GT now, i'm drooling at the though of the possibilities the graphic whores at PD will manage with this beastly PS4.
