Forums - Gaming - Gta To run at 30fps..

Your CRT TV ran at 24 fps and you never saw an issue with it...

People to stop the BS about 60 fps or I won't buy .........

I think that's exactly why games need to be at least 30 FPS. The if the system drops below or doesn't sync exactly with the TV at 24 FPS, then you will notice flicker. 30 FPS means that there's a small buffer just in case the output of the system and the television screen is off. The FPSes not syncing is exactly the reason why computer monitors (at least the old ones) look weird when they are filmed on camera.

Oh well, without any fast moving objects or high rendered scenery with exceptional polygon count, it won't matter much I think.
A shame that 60fps is not the benchmark yet though, even for folks like Rockstar (who aren't known as the greatest programmers around).

Why are you guys discussing graphics when talking about the framerate?

AFAIK, above 30 fps, framerate is much more about fluidity and sensitivity of control than about graphics.

Because framerate is directly related to graphics.

GTA IV is subpar in the graphics department for a PS3/360 games, and if they (programmers) couldn't provide the gamer with more complex graphics, they could at least apply that unused graphical power to make the game run at 60 frames.

X_X I don't see a difference between 30fps and 60 fps..

Probably 600P to...

From beyond3d.co forums

"it's typically a X360 resolution (1024x600 is an anamorphic resolution use strictly on X360 for full use of the EDRAM)"

I hope it's 720P though.

So what do you win if your prefered console sells more than another?

most people don't. In fact, if the developers didn't release the information about 30 fps, no one would complain. Only the hardcore of the hardcores see the difference.

And the thought that someone won't buy a game because its 30 fps instead of 60 fps amuses me.

I wouldn't consider 30fps a problem for a sandbox game like GTA.

The previous installments probably ran at a similar speed.

Previous installments ran at well below 30 fps.

@everyone saying you can't tell the difference, you can very easily tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps in a computer-generated 3D game, and you don't need to be uber-hardcore to notice.  The reason that film looks smooth at 24 fps is because each of the individual frames are blurred.  Cameras do not take instant snapshots, they take exposures over time, so what you see is what happened over a period of 1/24 of a second.  Computer-generated images, on the other hand, are instant snapshots, as if you froze all motion and took a picture.  Your brain needs more frames to perceive motion as smooth when the individual frames are instant snapshots.

The GTA games are not about fluid control. For better or worse.

So the framerate is not at important.

You're getting a near scale replica of most of New York.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

DVD's run at 24 FPS.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

It's a scientific fact the human eye on ly sees at 30 fps. No higher.

i belive the humaneye start to loose the ability to see frames around 40 flickers per second

and the guy who said crt tvs ran at 24 fps LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

crts have to flicker at 60 fps due to the 60 hz american generators spin at well i shouldnt say 60 fps but it does flicker at 60 fields per second and every 2 fields add up to a frame so its approx 30 interlaced frames per second film on the other hand works at 24 frames per second and if you want to get technical film is actually 24000/1001 crt tv is 30000/1001 and tvs with progressive output tend to be 60 fps or i think 60000/1001

also dvd runs at 30 fps interlaced movies tend to be converted using a method of telecide or something to convert it from 24 fps to 30 fps interlaced

edit forgot to mention that euopean television is a whole other story since in europe they tend to have generator rates of 50hz instead of 60hz like in america
