Previous installments ran at well below 30 fps.
@everyone saying you can't tell the difference, you can very easily tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps in a computer-generated 3D game, and you don't need to be uber-hardcore to notice. The reason that film looks smooth at 24 fps is because each of the individual frames are blurred. Cameras do not take instant snapshots, they take exposures over time, so what you see is what happened over a period of 1/24 of a second. Computer-generated images, on the other hand, are instant snapshots, as if you froze all motion and took a picture. Your brain needs more frames to perceive motion as smooth when the individual frames are instant snapshots.
