http://computer.howstuffworks.com/graphics-card3.htm

It's in the article. Read it. Ive got to go.
But it states here it's actually about 25 fps that the human eye can see.

That your eye only sees 30fps doesn´t mean you can´t see the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

Analogue:
1) You´re in a room and the light is out 30 minutes (minute on, minute of) every hour and you´re allowed to open your eyes for 30 minutes.
2) You´re in a room and the light is out 30 minutes (minute on, minute of) every hour and you´re allowed to open your eyes for 60 minutes.

On average you´ll see more if the light´s on 60 minutes.

You guys are being insane to be complaining about 30FPS, the other GTA games i bet never ran at 30FPS and during the massive parts the game could be brought down to under 5FPS. Gears of war, Halo, RFoM, Killzone, uncharted are all games that run at 30FPS and they are all amazing.

The only FPS game that i have heard that runs at 60FPS is CoD4, and this game suffers from dropping Frames in singleplayer and an online that lags all the time which causes frames to drop, go play the BoG on ground war with a heli overhead and an airstrike and the game is brought to its knees. And CoD4 is not even a good looking game, and its only rendered at 600P.

Not that 30 frames per second are that bad for a game like GTA, but considering the quality of the graphics, I expected 60fps.

I'm sure it's not fault of the consoles, but of Rockstar's programming.

I concur with the 22 FPS as far as Frame rates are concerned, though i've heard even 12 FPS is the lower limit.

The problem comes when things get off sync. If the human eye is not completely in sync with the monitor or the television screen, then you can notice flickers. 30 FPS is fine in most cases. To the trained eye and when lots of things are going on the screen, then one will be able to tell the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS.

Most people would care less, though. Do movies (in cinemas) even run at 60 FPS? Anyone know?

If smash bros brawl on the Wii (aka gamecube 2.5) can run on 60fps
then im baffled as to why GTA, which is sure to be BIG, cant run at or
about the same as a Wii game... i mean, i know its a large game, but
still..... ah, oh well, smash comes out sunday FTW

Your CRT TV ran at 24 fps and you never saw an issue with it...

People to stop the BS about 60 fps or I won't buy .........

The fact is that the human eye perceives the typical cinema film motion as being fluid at about 18fps, because of its blurring.

f you had a movie with 50 very sharp and crisp images per second, your eye would make out lots of details from time to time and you had the feeling, that the movie is stuttering.

Just think of modern games: Have you ever played Quake with 18fps? There is no motion blur in those games, thus you need a lot of frames per second more.

The human eye can process about 25 frames every second, but fast-action games require a frame rate of at least 60 FPS to provide smooth animation and scrolling.

On topic, probably we are going to see some framedrops, but most of the people won't care...

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender
"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

Man, looking at the trailers, some bits of them show slow downs.
I can totally tell there is and most likely there will be in the final game.
Imagine lining up a row of cars only to blow it up with a rocket launcher. (C'mon, everyone has done that)

BTW, the human eye can see faster than 24 frames per second.
I can totally tell the difference between playing a game in 30FPS and 60FPS.

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

Why are you guys discussing graphics when talking about the framerate?

AFAIK, above 30 fps, framerate is much more about fluidity and sensitivity of control than about graphics.
