Was the game being not exclusive ever a possibility? 

I actually wouldn't be surprised. Square has been doing little bits of things of the FFVII franchise so maybe it was to pump people back into this remake.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has never been released though so it's fair game to release it anywhere they want. I was under the impression that because the original is a PS1 game that it was tied to Sony but who knows maybe it's not even a factor.
