How about
10. Their current Virtual Consoles
9. Not sealing a 25bn dollar deal with Microsoft in 1999
8. GameBoy Micro

None of those are failures.

The Virtual Console definitely is, when you have such an amazing and expansive library of games from your past why would you not try and make the most of them. Music and Movies sell things from the past and they often make them easily available, Nintendo need to do the same with games. WiiU VC and 3DS VC are a bit of a joke.

Hahahahaha.

"Visionary hardware designer tragically killed in car accident."

"What a monumental failure on Nintendo's part. They can't do anything right."

He left Nintendo before he died

Amid the failure of the Virtual Boy, Yokoi left Nintendo on August 15, 1996 after 31 years at the company. However, he did not leave before completing the more successful Game Boy Pocket as a going-away present in July of that year. Leaving with several of his subordinates to form a new company called Koto, Yokoi led the development of the Bandai WonderSwan handheld gaming machine.

On October 4, 1997, while driving on the Hokuriku Expressway with his associate Etsuo Kiso, Yokoi rear-ended a truck driven by Takashi Okushima.[15][16] After the two men had left the car to inspect the damage, Yokoi was hit and fatally injured by two passing cars. The driver of one of the passenger cars that hit Yokoi in the second accident was Gen Tsushima, a member of the tourism industry.[16] Yokoi was pronounced dead two hours later.[4][17]

It sucks he never got to see the WonderSwan launch.

Still I wouldnt say it was one of Nintendo's failures as their next handheld was the DS, seems like he had some worthy successors.

Exactly, it's not like he designed his life's masterwork after leaving. Everything he accomplished was with Nintendo.

3DS Virtual Console is far from a joke. Some people just aren't satisfied with the lack of SNES & GBA titles. But the NES and GB(C) library available is outstanding.

Wii U Virtual Console is off to a slow start, but I see it as a remastering and extension of the Wii VC. It's more important to expand the games available by adding GBA games along with Earthbound and the promised DS games than to focus on bringing all of the old Wii VC games around. Those can still be bought and played on Wii U.

Even if the selection is a bit lackluster so far, it's far from a failure. The lack of any VC at launch on Wii U could be considered a failure, but that's tied to the failure of the Wii U more than the Virtual Console service.

What?

Microsotf offered them 25 bn in 1999 or sometime like that to join forces for the upcoming XBOX

and thats a fail?

Yes but not a huge fail, hence why that is listed #9

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

They could have 25 bn in the bank now dude plus whatever else they made by this point. I'm hella glad they didn't cuz I'd hate to see Mario on XBOX but still they passed it up

How exactly is the Wii U a bigger failure than the Virtual Boy? The Virtual Boy didn't even last a year on store shelves.

Well it didn't make Nintendo post losses.  Wasn't a main console either like Wii U is.

At least the Wii U didn't give people headaches and seizures during play sessions.

It's a crap 'article', but at least OP posted the list here, so we didn't have to give clicks to that shit website.

More OPs should do that.

WiiU above the Virtual Boy?
