Forums - Nintendo - Smash Bros. Wii U sells over 490,000 units in the U.S., fastest-selling Wii U game ever

Weren't some people giving some insanely large predictions? 750K, 600K minimum, 800K? 490K is good for 3 days, but I honestly expected more after the whole "more pre-orders than Mario Kart" thing. I guess it was just a bit more, I don't expect it to outsell Mario Kart in the long run at all since it's more front-loaded. (Yes, I know Smash Bros. is pretty leggy, but it doesn't have Mario Kart legs).

For comparison, Mario Kart 8 sold 415K in 2 days, maybe if we consider 3 days it was actually pretty close between the two.

I thought those predictions were for the first Week and not 3 days?

Why the fuck is Nintendo so silent about this game. They were pretty loud about MK8...

What do you mean...?

We need global sales and info on hardware sales.

You want global sales figures for a game that has yet to be released globally?

It hasnt been released anywhere else yet...

Mario Kart 8 gave the U a 300% sales boost. If the same boost applies to Smash then the U could sell 100k+ on Smash Week.

I'm guessing Amiibo is 600K.

Hmm, that's true, OMG! Though I still don't find it likely for those insane predictions to be matched after 7 days, no way it's doing a total of 700K + by Thursday. If we do a quick guesstimate, I'd say another 60-90K for the rest of the week. Black Friday wouldn't count since that'll be the beginning of Week 2.

I think those figures would be closer to first months sales though.

Well, I wouldn't really say first month cause I am sure there are a lot of people waiting for Black friday but I do agree that FW US alone might be a bit too much for 700k+ although, it does depend on how it will sell leading up to the second week cause this is holiday sales we are talking about and by nature, they should be higher than MK8's launch sales.

I'm guessing it didn't since Nintendo probably would've mentioned that. They did when Mario Kart 8 came out.

Yeah Nintendo is going to make crazy money off those Amiibos. It's a goldmine. I think it will be the big bright spot of Nintendo's fiscal reports for the year end.

Your fast!

I was expecting more to be honest. But it is only two days...

That's 3 days though. Nov 21, 22 and 23.
