because XB360 is dying and PS3 isn't yet...??

Call of Duty Black Ops II:

Call of Duty Ghosts:

PS4 - 2.79 XB1 - 2.13
PS3 - 9.22 XB360 - 9.11

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare:

PS4 - 3.93 XB1 - 2.52
PS3 - 1.81 XB360 - 1.57

**Note**: All previous versions of Call of Duty have sold better on the Xbox in comparison to Playstation. Black Ops II released in 2012.

The data shown above clearly shows that more people are now playing Call of Duty on Playstation since 2012. One could argue that Black Ops II is in the margin of error, but that shouldn't discredit the data since all previous Call of Duty versions on the XB360 have CLEARLY outsold the PS3.

I think the best indicator is just comparing the PS3 version to the XB360 version. On the PS3, Call of Duty sold 50.03%, 50.30%, and 53.55% of the total software 7th generation sales on Black Ops II, Ghosts, and advanced warfare respectively. I feel that comparing the PS3 to the XB360 is the best way to analyze this data since both systems sold nearly the same amount of hardware. From the data shown above, it shows that less XB360 owners are buying Call of Duty on the last generation console.

BUT, if you look at the next generation sales, you can clearly see that more users are buying it on the PS4 than the XB1. Since the PS4 is outselling the XB1 2:1 WW, then you can multiply the XB1 software numbers by 2 and realize that more people are still playing Call of Duty on the Xbox based on a software to hardware ratio.

But why would anyone want to bother to logically think something through when you could say things like:
The Sony announcement of selling 10 million units back in August must be false but nearly shipping 10 million XB1's means 9.99 million shipped.
Or selling 1 million units in Germany is FALSE just like the PS4 selling more Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare games in comparison to the XB1.

Plus Japan which came on stream last week with ~70:1 sales advantage to PS3. This alone accounts for ~1/3 of the LTD difference between PS3 and 360.

No. We established that this line of thinking is not necessarily the case.  The same could have been said in reverse as Destiny sold more on the 360 than on the ps3 only as recently as a couple of months ago.

Just because there are a lot of sales, doesn't mean 360 dominates games sales here. Doesn't take into consideration multiple (repetitive) console ownership, or the surge from the casual crowd since 2011 due to kinect.

Wii also dominated before.  Past dominance doesn't mean people still play on the systems in the same numbers.

How many Xbox 360 owners closed their XBL Gold accounts already due to not having many games to play in the past few years?

No, they are right. 360 owners are so satisfied that they don't even need to buy new games anymore! They are the happiest people on Earth!
