Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Disney Nintendo Acquisition?

For those saying it would be horrible, think of this.

1. Disney movies anytime would become a Nintendo console exclusive

2. Disney infinity would become a Nintendo exclusive

3. All the Film movies that have so much potential would actually reach that potential through Nintendo. Imagine Toy story made by Nintendo.

4, Imagine all the princess crap and how profitable it would be on a Nintendo console but at least more women would grow up playing video games.

5. A good pirates of the caribean game

6. New IP' such as national treasure, Monstrers inc., The muppets, Winnie the Pooh to appeal to a wider audience.

7. Nintendo land right next to disney land.

8. Disney now owns Star Wars.....This potential speaks for itself. Nintendo + Star wars = ? They shut down lucasarts and video game wing probably because if they are to operate a major video gaming entity, their would be a conflict.

9. Potential to work with future exclusive ABC, A+E, history channel, espn content.

10.  MARVEL GAMES AND CROSSOVERS exclusively. Marvel comics through the Nintendo consoles

11. Advancements in Online through Disney

12. etc etc

Disney wouldn't go multi platform as it would be more profitable for them to be exclusive. They are very much into exclusivity when it comes to their other intellectual property. This probably won't happen, but if it did, it would be massive.

"If you want to look at what Disney can do for a character, look at the mainstream's acceptance of Iron Man."

Eh? The first Iron Man movie came out a whole year before Disney bought Marvel, and they obviously already had the whole Avengers thing in mind, considering the post-credits scene. What the hell is this guy talking about?

Anyway, I'm not sure if Disney buying Nintendo would be benefical. It was good for Marvel, we're yet to see how it works with Star Wars, but the problem here is that Disney doesn't give a flying fuck about video games. Hell, they shut down Lucasarts after all. It's likely they would withdraw from the hardware market and become a third-party developer - and only focus on the big hits anyway (Smash, Zelda, Mario and Pokemon basically).

That being said however, I believe it would be EXTREMELY benefical in the movies department. We'd probably see pretty good movies based on several Nintendo IPs - and in this case, it's likely that they would use the lesser known franchises (look at Big Hero 6 for example).

I really don't like the idea of Disney acquiring Nintendo. If anything, I'd much rather prefer a partnership between the two.

is Polygon drunk or something with that 19 million number cause if Disney bought Nintendo then that would mean they would have to spend more money then they did to buy Lucasfilms, Pixar and Marvel combine?

What can Disney possibly stand to gain? The audience Nintendo has? Disney already has them.

I really don't see the point  of such an acquisition... :/

More intellectual properties? Yea Disney has a lot, but Nintendo has some of the most recognizable and something Disney would surely want.

The thing about Disney and Nintendo is both of their products appeal to both everyone. Surely Disney haven't proven themselves in the video game space, why wouldn't they want the company who many people consider the Disney of gaming?

First point: who are they going to sell to?  Many - probably 40% - of the same people who buy Mario Kart 8 buy Frozen stuff.  The audiencne is mostly made up of the same people: parents and preteens(who still behave like children and aren't obsessed with violence).

I think you're on to something with your second point but in respose you kinda mentioned it yourself.  Nintendo is the Disney of games and Disney is the Disney.  The money Mario makes comes from the same purse as Toy Story's money.

Polyflopligon really have no clue what they're talking about do they?
