None of these companyies have trillions of dollars. There's only like $60-70 trillion in all of the world (lol I remember when the RIAA tried to sue people for more money than actually existed in the world) and that includes all physical money, checking and savings accounts, CDs, stocks etc. You think MS has 10% of the world's money?

I'm gonna chalk this up to a typo. A hilariously bad typo. Because even if you take off a 0, Micorosft still doesn't have 700B and Google doesn't have 400B (although Apple does have over 100B)

At the bolded part. Either the 60-70 trillion figure is wrong, or the second part is wrong. I know this because the country Norway (in which I live) has a "hedgefund" with 1 trillion in it, and that fund owns 1% of all the world's stocks. 1*100= 100, so that's 100 trillions only in stocks in the world.

Nah.

But that doesn't work... When the Norwegian state owns stocks for 1 trillion, and that's 1% of all stocks in the world, then that simply doesn't work out.

But hey, if it's "only" 60-70 trillion, then Norway owns one sixtieth of all the worlds money and valuables, and that's only the state owned stocks.

Playstation in the hands of Google or Amazon or Apple would be game over for MS. The chances of them ever making their billions back would be gone.

It would destroy PlayStation for me though...

why? if they kept all the PLaystation guys on it would benefit even more. They would be able to invest more in games development that Sony could ever dream of. Plus MS couldn't afford to buy 3rd party exclusives.

Google Apple Pippin to know the problems of a Apple Console. Bigger Flop than even the Philips CDi or the Virtual Boy, if not THE biggest flop in console history.

Norway's hedge fund is supposed to be worth $893 billion. So yeah, around 1% give or take a little, and with differing exchange rates and what not.

Roughly 1 trillion

Maybe I'll be safe here...

Hopefully they straighten up and fly right soon. Some say that PS should be bought out by Google or Amazon but I think Google is working on their own game console. Seeing PS torn away from Sony would literally do something to me.

As others have already pointed out, I'm not really sure what kind of analytic business grade school you attended but most of the main OP either assumes or outright makes up the bulk of the claims.

Many people have already pointed out that MS doesn't have 7 Trillion dollars hiding in a safe (lol seriously)
but more importantly it seems like you've actually done little research or fact checking to back your claims.
The main point I'd like to discuss is

- "Stock is 20 dollars. Wich is really, really LOW. Even in split times.

Go look up the history of Sony stock within the last couple of years. What you'll learn is that Sonys stock had sunk to an all-time low of $9.74 at the end of 2012. We are currently at the end of 2014 and stock prices are ~$21.25 at the time of this posting. This is a massive rebound to where they sat 2 years ago and is relatively in line with company wide restructures. A large boat like Sony is slow to move, slow to react and takes time to change bad habits. In fact look at the chance of Bankruptcy last year vs now and you'll see a dramatic decrease in probability.

To come up with your conclusions is to also say that X1 has made a comeback and will win this gen based merely upon the past 3 weeks of explosive sales.

When you start putting stuff like 5000 billion, I just can't take the thread seriously.

obviously I hope Sony the best but I wouldn't mind seeing a true powerhouse like Samsung, Apple, Google or Amazon take on the PS brand. Sony is ruling the roost already but the possibilities with someone with such pockets are endless.

Why would Sony ever ditch one of their most profitable divisions though? At best, Sony will keep selling the problematic divisions like they did with Vaio but not ditching the ones that gives them food. The thing we may see in a very distant future is like Sony = gaming and nothing else as long as PS makes money of course.

if they were to go out of business they might break up and sell their divisions to whoever wants them.

You don't seem to get what I'm saying. They wouldn't buy the brand and then just think up some crap console. They would keep SOny's model going if they were smart. Keep it the exact same but do the things Sony couldn't afford to do. You would have to be insane to buy PS for like 20BN and then go off your own way.

MS bought Minecraft. Do you see them trying to change it to be something it's not? No.

To someone big as Sony go out of business is a very long shot. Sony may be reporting negative results but it's nowhere near having just debt. Even if they don't have the same monopoly like they used to, they still have billions invested in many stuff around the world. But I don't know man, common people like me never know the real picture but I just think that ditching something that makes money would be dumb.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...
