Lol, okay, so OPPW selling 1/2 the copies of the best selling game on 1/2 the userbase of it's platform means it's selling worse, despite the fact that it's the best selling Musou game in Europe, and sold 3/4 of the best selling game in Japan on less than half the userbase. That's to say nothing of Hyrule Warriors which sold a 1/4 of the best selling PS2 game on less than 1/20, yes that's less than one twentieth of the PS2 userbase. Oh, but we can't count Hyrule Warriors because it's 8th gen, but we can count the PS2 games which are 6th gen?

Shirley you're kidding.

No no, the Wii U really is selling like crap!

Sorry I was unaware that selling to a higher percentage of the install base was more important than sale figures. Im sure companies just love selling less when it means they have sold through to a higher portion of the users

Here's the thing, developers no longer have a 157 million install base to release games to. They have considerably smaller install bases now to choose from. The amount of sales they'll get depends on the attach rates of the install bases they release on. Those attach rates in turn depend on what those install bases will buy. So the fact that a significantly smaller install base can get a significantly higher attach rate means something. The fact that OPPW sold to more of the install base than the main series games did on that same system means that Tecmo Koei is going to think there's really something to making warriors games with the right IP to back them that produces a better attach rate. Sales numbers for the history of a series just say if there's an audience or not. The amount of sales they'll get for an individual title depends more on the attach rate. It's why Mario Kart 8 will struggle to outsell the GBA Mario Kart even though it's vastly superior. But Nintendo can't release on the GBA now, because it would sell next to nothing. They probably wouldn't even outsell Mario Kart: Super Circuit if they released Mario Kart 9 on the DS, because people have moved on from that too. A new DS Mario Kart would sell maybe 2 million. Should Nintendo give up on Mario Kart because it can't get 20+ million sales? No. Should they even expect 20+ million sales? No. Should they make a Mario Kart like Super Circuit just because it sold better than 8? Absolutely not. They work with what they have and make a game that they think will appeal to the most people possible on the system they have. For the Warriors series, based on what's sold the best for the systems they're on, this seems to mean finding the right IP to back it. As it stands, if the Wii U had a 157 million user install base like the PS2 did, and Hyrule Warriors got the same attach rate it has as of this post, it would have sold 10.89 million copies. Even if the Wii U only sells 15 million units lifetime and Hyrule Warriors never sells another unit, it's attach rate would be so high, that at the same attach rate on 157 million it would have sold 5.44 million. Attach rates are sales to a company, because sales are ultimately limited by how much of the install base is interested.

Flawed  logic. The ps2 reached 157m by pretty much the end of the ps3 generation. No game launched to an 157m install base. What's important is how many owners are still using their consoles and buying games. Sheer hardware numbers mean nothing, hence psp selling like crap in terms of software years before the vita even launched.

You have a point but using 157m is just all sorts of wrong.

No chance at all. Hearthstone is sitting at 93 on iOS.

Means nothing. You don't get neglected due to ONLY having 16 reviews.

Ocarina of Time isn't the greatest game of all time. It ONLY has 22 reviews.

To show why I am right and you are not, I bring to you the GoTY nominees for The Game Awards. An award show backed by Nintendo, Sony, MS, Valve, Activision, etc... with a panel consisting of top execs from each.

GAME OF THE YEAR
Bayonetta 2 (Platinum Games/Nintendo)
Dark Souls 2 (From Software/Bandai Namco Games)
Dragon Age: Inquisition (BioWare/Electronic Arts)
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment)
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Monolith Productions/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)

If you click on Hearthstone it brings you a review of the iOS version, which means that is the game counted obviously. Same game with the 93 Meta.

About Meta, it only counts specific reviewing outlets, which means it likely misses out on many mobile reviewing sites. It's well know that mobile games get only a few reviews.

Do we suddenly stop counting specific multiplat scores because most reviews were done on PS4 instead of XBone and vice versa?

1996 vs 2014 big difference. That said PC version is the one to use on meta. It has almost 3 times more reviews. Everybody does that with games especially multiplats with MS/Sony (the score determined is by most reviewers)

Once again your "rules" are bogus.

See by post above yours.
