The last of Us should've been only a next-gen game, but they blew it, too bad they just rushed, same thing GTA V.

So PC belongs to nothing and Persona, TLoU and GTA among others don't count. Also, "All Nintendo games" is a bit misleading, is it not since Rayman is made by Ubisoft and has nothing to do with Nintendo. Bayonetta 2 is arguable since Nintendo funded it but Platinum made it.
PS4 already has 6 90+ games, btw. WiiU has 5, in twice the time

All that means is that a bunch of critics like those games. While I do check critic scores, I usually check just to make sure a game isn't a massive pile of garbage before buying it.
Usually I'll buy games that are over 60% because, even if critics don't like them, there's a good chance I still might.
For example, I enjoyed Thief. Played it all the way through and really had a good time with it. It had its problems, and when I was done I traded it in for Ys: Tales of Celceta, but I still enjoyed it. The thing I remember the most is when I was in this one house that this old lady owned, and she had a couple of guards on patrol. But the odd thing was, the place was dead silent. All I could hear was the ticking of a clock. I knew that other people were around, and I could hear their footsteps, but they weren't screaming or yelling things out to indicate where they were. So it all relied on me to find them without any way of knowing where they were early on, and sneak past them as quickly as possible.
On the other side of the coin, I didn't like Bioshock Infinite. I thought that the new innovation of swinging on a rope was a bit too.... linear. I was expecting much more of a free roaming thing with it, but the most I got was the final boss where it felt like you were just on a roller coaster. And even then, I got so bored of it that I just started walking everywhere because it was easier and more efficient for me. The 2 weapon slot thing is a bore, and I didn't care for the people I was helping or hurting (or even the girl, for that matter).
So, I don't really rely on their scores that much. I look at things that might be good for me, and if the game gets a higher score than Sonic Boom, if I'm still interested I'll get it.

In conclusion; your thread title does not specify exclusives (simply says "out of all the games this gen")and your OP contains a multiplat for Wii U but none for others, you disregard the PC and Indie titles for no good reason, you disregard the Vita for no good reason (why 3DS but no Vita?). As mentioned; you also set a handheld from February 2011 (the first 3DS title on that list is November 2011 though, but that still gives massive problems regarding excluding the Vita and PC titles in the same space of time) and a home console from November 2012 against two home consoles from November 2013. The OP and thread title do not specifically mention exclusives either; it's like someone comes in and starts arguing the validity of the criteria and then others throw in "well, that's what he/I meant", that is a pretty low form of debating. My list above for the PC should prove beyond a shadow of a doubt; 13 titles at 90+ meta for the PC means Out of All The Games This Gen So Far Over 90+ Meta, The PC Wins Easily (three are exclusives)! XD I'm sorry, tbone51; this OP is massively cherrypicked and containing several ridiculous, arbitrary conditions and terms that remove all credibility and point from the effort. The only thing it proves is that you're willing to resort to all the tricks in the book to promote your preferences as superior. Its irrelevant who makes a game. Nintendo fully funded Bayonetta 2, so it is a Nintendo game. Halo is a Microsoft game because Microsoft funded it, despite the fact that Bungie is making games for other platforms.

But, as with highly praised movies in cinema it would not happen. People don't watch the movies in cinema that were praised by critics, but they watch Transformers.

I'm sorry I went off topic to rant about the Wii U, but what I hate is this current trend on this site about how good or superior Nintendo is, which is just surreal in my opinion. But more power to you if you're proud of being a Nintendo fan. Heck even I don't regret having a Wii U and a 3DS, altough they're not my cup of tea in terms of hardware, they have great exclusive games I just don't want to miss. |
