It might be 3 or 4 years until it's officially discontinued.... but I only expect Nintendo to really support it for 2 more years.

i expect more quality games for Wii U for the next 2-3 years.

My opinion is that it is 2 years too long already!

But, they will give it 2 more years for sure.

4DS/Fusion is the Wii U successor.

Nintendo won't have seperate software ecosystems (meaning SNES/GB, N64/GBC, GCN/GBA, Wii/DS, Wii U/3DS type split) going forward, so the "next" Nintendo generation begins when the 3DS successor arrives. Probably in 2016. 

That will be where you play Mario Kart 9, Mario Galaxy 3, Animal Crossing Next, etc. ... you'll just have the option of buying the portable or home variant or both. But they will have the same games. 

Probally more 2 years.

Im going to go with 3 years so 2017 for the successor. Bt really I expect that christmas 2016 will be the last major release with maybe one or two small titles early 2017.
