Forums - Gaming - I want to play Chrono Trigger again, 18 years later. Which version should I play?

Played it when I was 16 years old, and now 18 years after I want to play it again.

Which version should I play? The PS od DS version? Is there a difference in translation? Cutscenes? Sound quality?

Also, almost forgot, why not Android? Better graphics probably...

Many thanks!

DS version. Pretty sure, the PS1 version has annoying load times. Also, I think the translation is better and the DS version has an extra ending I believe.

I would suggest either the DS or the Wii Virtual Console versions (or the original SNES version of course). Like InnocentSin already said, the Square SNES game ports on PS1 had really irritating load times compared to the original games.

original is always better even if it sucks.

FF5, FF6, and Chrono Trigger had long loading times, FF4 didn't.  FF4 loaded faster than the SNES version.

DS version easily.

iOS/Android versions are poorly optimized and just as bad as the PS1 version.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

That's strange, I wonder what made FFIV different in that case.

I think I read something that the entire game minus audio/fmv fit on the system ram while the others didn't so they had to be ported.

NO! I meant he should play it on the console the game was released for even if that version sucks compared to a new version.
