well no not in my mind.  I think Captain Toad is a Mario spinoff so I would count that as the same IP

I also count Angel as part of the Buffy IP and so on and so forth.  If it's the same universe it's the same IP in my opinion.

Well deserved. Now make a good game of an interesting franchise.

I personally thought the warchief/captain killing was fun. I liked going around and hunting them down and killing them. Unforunately the main missions in the game are horrible. I was pretty shocked at how bad the main missions were they were just so boring and they didn't even seem to focus on the story of why this man and elf were brought together which I thought was their whole purpose was to find out why this happened to them.

After I got done killing all the captains/warchiefs I stopped playing haven't been able to and probably wont go back to the game.

This was my game of the year so far. Something in my bones tells me that Assassins Creed Unity has doubled this games sales, and I expect to see that show in the charts. Such a shame really. The masses buy their 3 games a year from their 3 franchises and let so many lovingly crafted gems rot.

Story line was just blah to me

That's funny considering Ubisoft has The Crew and The Division as 2 new Ip . I think Ubisoft likes to talk out of their ass.

This is the next game I'm picking up, along with Garden Warfare. I'm just a little concerned about the longevity of it, it does seem to, however impressively, chiefly involve killing waves and waves of orcs for 20+ hours.

Considering Shadow of Mordor is a licensed game... that should be enough to tell you its not a new IP.

WB owns the game that was created. But they need a license to sell it because they don't own the IP.
