Forums - Nintendo - Bloomberg: Nintendo says Smash Wii U has more pre-orders than MK8.

Maybe the few people can calm down about SSB 3ds hurting SSBU sales :0

Technically this doesn't prove otherwise, perhaps preorders would have been even greater :P

I dunno if would make sense for retailers to order more copies of Smash since it's a game launching in the holiday season, versus MK8 which launched in May. In the long term MK8 will still end up on top.

Another thing to note is MK8 had a free game deal outside japan, ssbu doesn't have anything and is worse due to needing more things with the purchase (gcn adapter+controller)

smash doesn't NEED those things.

yeah, kinda do for the hardcore gamers

Its going to have an insane attach ratio imo

Wow, that's surprising. Maybe its cause there are more Wii U owners now.

I better go preorder this...
I didn't think I would need to preorder the 3DS version, and I paid the price for that...

Have a nice day...

Sales will be more front-loaded no doubt.

Hardcore gamers will already have a gamecube controller (or several) :D

As if ...
Nintendo (and most VGC users as well it seems) forget that Smash is for a completely different target group. Mario Kart sells well over time to families and friends, pretty much "every" gamer; Smash is a game that people buy who love gaming and don't just play it with friends at the weekend. Those people already own a Wii U because they can't wait buying new stuff so they pre-order Smash as well. Sales will drop way harder than Mario Kart's and its impact on hardware won't be "similarly dramatic".
But if saying "this is going to sell loads!" makes even more people want it to stay cool, I'm ok with this kind of PR talk.

I stand by that; Smash U sales would be higher without the cheaper alternative.

I think its the other way around... or that's how it ultimately ended up. That 50 Fact Direct really caught a lot of people off-guard and they were already knees deep into the pool, so to speak.

I hope so; Wii U needs the help much more than 3DS does. Then again, if you ask me, putting it on 3DS at all was a mistake.

Stooooooooooooop Curl, this comment is the worst i heard reguarding Smash this generation.

No matter what, SSB 3DS proved you wrong with Its current sales alone, it be stupid not to make SSB a HH franchise as well.

curl has this opinion? :O ssb 3ds is just a smart move by nintendo, its a decoy:Phhheeeeeeh

actually, no. either the gamecube or pro controller will do. and everyone buys extra controllers if they want multiplayer. so it's not like the controllers will be smash only.
