What do you think? It would be really awesome if Microsoft and Sony had a physical disk for digital copy coupon code trade in program. 

I want to go all digital but people keep giving me Xbox One disks damn it...and they go straight on to Kijiji for sale or Gamestop if trade in value is good. 

If something like this became a reality, I would gladly pay the shipping cost to ship my disk games to Microsoft for a digital codes in return. Also I would actually keep most of my games hence there would be less used games in circulation.

Come on Microsoft (or Sony)...make it happen!

i don't think the market is there to make it worth ms's or sony's time to put the program together. in theory i would use it but honestly,.. i just don't get discs.

I think you're probably right as there is absolutely nothing for MS and Sony to gain out of this, other than possibly sell used titles in the market. Would be cool for consumers as they could enjoy retail fire sales, and have digital copies of their games.

I too avoid physical disks like the plague but I got some for my birthday, I with in media and get them through work...plus with holidays around the corner, its gonna get worse. 

It be easiler to get codes with the physical disc for a digital copy. That's what everything else does. I'm the reverse. I give my digital codes from my BD's to friends. But than they'll compain about loss of revenue in some mannor.

Yeah well they can't really do that as you are giving the game and playing it too. :) They can if therei s "always on" DRM, but we all know how that turned out. 

I was down with Xone DRM back in the day just for this purpose along. I knew that Id ge dozens of physical games which id never be able to associate with my digital library without DRM. 

my wife used to get me games for xmas but i told her to stop last year because i don't want the discs.

..i'm having a lot of trouble finding anything i want these days actually.   i kind of just want to throw everything away.  my latest kick is that i'm starting to feel like having a smartphone is a waste of time/money.  i never use the stupid thing except as an mp3 player.  the phone and data plans just feel like an epic waste when my average phone bill has 3 minutes of use on it and ~50 mb of data.  i guess i'm just old these days.

DVD/BD, and comics all do it. And I give them out. Hell, they make you buy the DVD copies with those combo packs. So then they lose a sale. When I give those to other people. I give all my comics digital code to my austrilian friend. Doesn't pay a cent lol. These companies seem to not care.

That seems like an interesting idea. Besides, Sony and MS want you to buy games digitally (More DRM, no second-hand market, more profits). So the more people they can get off discs, the happier they'll be.

I would always prefer disc though. It costs the same as digital, and I have more freedom with the game (I could lend it to a friend, or sell it used). Discs also save on storage space. Having to change discs for games isn't that big a deal for me.

The only way to convince me to go all-digital is if the digital games cost less than their disc-based counterparts.

Wasn't there a PlayStation Vita PSP UMD plan in Japan?
