I think you're probably right as there is absolutely nothing for MS and Sony to gain out of this, other than possibly sell used titles in the market. Would be cool for consumers as they could enjoy retail fire sales, and have digital copies of their games.

I too avoid physical disks like the plague but I got some for my birthday, I with in media and get them through work...plus with holidays around the corner, its gonna get worse. 

my wife used to get me games for xmas but i told her to stop last year because i don't want the discs.

..i'm having a lot of trouble finding anything i want these days actually.   i kind of just want to throw everything away.  my latest kick is that i'm starting to feel like having a smartphone is a waste of time/money.  i never use the stupid thing except as an mp3 player.  the phone and data plans just feel like an epic waste when my average phone bill has 3 minutes of use on it and ~50 mb of data.  i guess i'm just old these days.
