Yeah well they can't really do that as you are giving the game and playing it too. :) They can if therei s "always on" DRM, but we all know how that turned out. 

I was down with Xone DRM back in the day just for this purpose along. I knew that Id ge dozens of physical games which id never be able to associate with my digital library without DRM. 

DVD/BD, and comics all do it. And I give them out. Hell, they make you buy the DVD copies with those combo packs. So then they lose a sale. When I give those to other people. I give all my comics digital code to my austrilian friend. Doesn't pay a cent lol. These companies seem to not care.
