Sakurai might be independent on paper, but he's still in Nintendo's pocket for now. I consider it first party because without the guidance of Nintendo the third party would've failed in creating a good game. :p 

The thing I dislike the most in this game is in fact those pixelated ugly stages (Pacman land and the Duck Hunt stage). Seriously, how lazy can you get?

Aww, another 80% on Metacritic. This might even dip below 90% if it keeps getting those reviews.

Giant Bomb 4/5 (3rd reviewer to be under 90). They also gave 3ds version a 4/5, weird, oh well!
