Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo looking into potential amiibo compatibility for third-party companies

Everything we’ve seen thus far of amiibo has been limited to first-party content. However, Nintendo is now looking into ways its third-party partners can integrate figures into their games.

That would be smart. If they play their cards right this could be bigger than skylanders.

They really need to stop whoring out their franchises. Its getting sad at this point...

Interesting, if its done right, then amiibo might be a must have thing for the future

I wouldn't worry about it. Nintendo has no third-parties to whore their Amiibos out to.

Well theyve found several so far this gen to put their characters in...

This is getting interesting.

This will make the amiibos stand out from skylanders and disney infinity - well all of them have both advantages and disadvantages.

I agree, especially because it doesn't increase third party software sales anyway. Adding Nintendo cameos/functionality/whatever to a mediocre game doesn't change the fact that it's a mediocre game. Nintendo quality goes way beyond the presence of certain characters.

True. The cat creatures in MH4 with the Mario and Luigi costumes just seemed weird... It works in stuff like Bayonetta since its just over the top batshit insane anyway.

Didn't they already confirm every character in Smash would have an amiibo?

So that means there has to be Megaman and Sonic and Pac-Man amiibos at some point.

It's too bad Snake isn't in the game, because a Solid Snake amiibo would be cool (though would that fly with him being an M-rated character?).
