Forums - Nintendo - Does the awesomeness of Bayonetta 2 tell us anything about the potential of Devil's Third?

That's like showing Halo 4 and saying that Rare could make a game with similar quality.

90s Rare could. Modern Rare would be better off setting their sights on The Conduit.

Bayonetta 2 looked good from the beginning. Devil's Third...does not

Doubtful, I think Itagaki is a top notch developer but I don't have near the confidence in Devils Third that I had in Bayonetta 2. Hopefully that game will turn out well.

itagaki may have experience, but thisis a new studio on, what i believe is, their first project. It may be cool, but nowhere near bayo2.

Devil's Third has been on the down-low because they are, more than likely, reworking a lot of that game from the ground up. Nintendo's not going to let what we saw at E3 go live with their name on it.

And that's almost certainly what happens each time Nintendo funds a third-party IP - they put their own quality assurance processes in there, and ensure that the game is up to standard.

That's why I'm hopeful that Devil's Third will be a great game.

It tells us that it'll suck even more in comparison. So, yeah.

While I agree with your sentiment, it's not just Itagaki. He took a lot of Team Ninja's top talent with him. It's no coincedence that Ninja Gaiden's quality took a serious hit after Itagaki left.
