I can't believe Exxon/Mobile isn't in the top ten as far as brand value goes its the biggest oil company and they have record profits every year.

do u care much of the brand u get ur gas from?
i dont that much

thats why the brand value is "low".
i find it more weird, that non of the german premium carmaker is in that list. mercedes or bmw are always in the top 20

edit: lol oka nvm

Toyota is a much bigger brand then the two you mentioned the only German car maker that has a legit shot at making the top 10 in the future is VW since it much more of a global brand then both BMW and Mercedes.  Plus its part of a big group that also includes Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini.   That Forbes top 100 list doesn't make much sense how is Lexus listed seperatley when its fully owned by Toyota.  Porsche shouldn't be listed seperately neither since its part of the VW group.  Kia being ranked seperatly doesn't make sense either since its owned by Hyundai and Hyundai sells more cars then Kia and it isn't in top 100.

It is more about the total of money (and "free" marketing) the brand can generate (not only revenues tied to the brand product itself) and how much the brand would worth if you would sell it.

Toyota may be known but it is not a strong brand. For instance, let's say you'll come out with a new racing game...if you have the choice between the 3, will you put a Toyota on the box or a Mercedes/BMW? I would go for Mercedes or BMW without any doubt. The game would sale better because the brand is just a more prestigious brand.

So in short it has nothing to do with how much the brand is present globaly but more about the brand recognition/ revenues / brand value / potentials / stability and to a certain extend its prestige.

this is not about "big" its about valuable.

why is louis vuitton in the top 10?
lvmh is just making 30 billion euro a year

that why vw as brand is less valuable than audi.

First you have to work hard to get that monopoly :)

But after that, it is good for business, I agree! (At least for the company itself )
