I can't believe Exxon/Mobile isn't in the top ten as far as brand value goes its the biggest oil company and they have record profits every year.

do u care much of the brand u get ur gas from?
i dont that much

thats why the brand value is "low".
i find it more weird, that non of the german premium carmaker is in that list. mercedes or bmw are always in the top 20

edit: lol oka nvm

http://www.forbes.com/powerful-brands/#page:2_sort:0_direction:asc_search:
bmw is at 11 accoriding to forbs

here is a different one:
https://www.millwardbrown.com/brandz/2014/Top100/Docs/2014_BrandZ_Top100_Chart.pdf
diffrent way to count the value ofc.

Toyota is a much bigger brand then the two you mentioned the only German car maker that has a legit shot at making the top 10 in the future is VW since it much more of a global brand then both BMW and Mercedes.  Plus its part of a big group that also includes Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini.

this is not about "big" its about valuable.

why is louis vuitton in the top 10?
lvmh is just making 30 billion euro a year

that why vw as brand is less valuable than audi.

LV being in the top 10 is kinda a joke anyway the only clothing brand that should be in the top 10 should be Nike its a much more recognizable and valuable brand even the Air Jordan brand that is owned by Nike is more more recogizable then LV.

yeah. but as i said. a whole lot of a difference. make it 15 years and u payed 60 bucks per share

i would only sell, if u see the dow crashing like 2008. and if it will crash. buy msft again for 16 bucks :D

i payed 26 bucks end of 2012

Tbh, I might sell up anyway, stocks can and most likely will raise in future, but i figure i can cut and run now , id still have my other stocks in several other companies for rainy days.

May as well spend it while im still young enough to enjoy it.

There are other ways to get at the cash and not pay the capital gains tax. Although I think this is ludicrous law it is law.  In the US you wont pay any gains until you sell and if you die first and leave stock to your kids they will inherit the stock at current price and all unrealized capital gains will be washed away.  So if you can borrow against the stock at a nice low interest rate and save the capital gains tax.

Just another way that the 1% (I am one of these people) get off paying less in taxes.  It is wrong, but as we saw a couple days ago people vote against their own interests in this country.
