That's not how console sales work. The only way the mass market leader drops is iff(if and only if) the entire market drops. Gaps might decrease, but reversals do not happen. Thus, we can conclude hype doesn't matter not anymore. The only time it did matter was during the launch period. After January, the PS4 was selling on popularity not hype; especially when most definetions of "hype" don't make any kind of sense after the launch period.
not to mention this is obviously a joke for many reasons that utlize common sense or an iota of reasoning skills.

Due means as a result of, that is the assertion, I am making. Hype caused it, but after launch it stopped being the case.
Cause is not the case.
Popularity is not the same thing as hype, not in this scenario and not the way its being used here.
While Jan 2015 is an artificial deadline, I'm setting it at the end of holiday season, where all console sales dropped. The sales momentum of the system afterward was a result of its popularity, or percieved customer value. Price, features or lack of features, library, brand, etc.
