Forums - Nintendo - Next Wii U price cut?

I don't know, at a certain point, dropping the price isn't feasable anymore. The gamepad keeps up costs, so I guess a mild price drop next holiday period, mayby 20€?

Anytime in 2015 for 250$
200$ by the end of 2016

I expect it to take a while, it's still being sold at a loss after all.

$250 in spring 2015. With a bundle of either Splatoon or Mario Maker.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Probably not before April 1, 2015 (the end of the previous fiscal year and the beginning of the new one). A price cut now would just f**k up their fiscal year and cause them to post losses, so they will ride out the $299.99 Wii U until next year at least.

I think they'll shift to a $249.99 bundle come summer 2015 with Super Smash Bros. U + a starter Amiibo.

Nintendo doesn't bundle brand new games, they wait until the games sell their initial fill (to cover dev costs) and then the game gets bundled afterwards. Mario 3D World is just being bundled now for example, they will wait for a little with Smash.

Splatoon and Mario Maker IMO won't be bundled right away.

nintendo's will is to fight with a barrage of games firstly,it doesn t seem very reluctant to do a price cut from an interview with iwata i read.So one early 2016,and another one in the middle of 2017!I would bet that nintendo won t do a price cut before 2016...

How did they manage to lose money in fiscal q1 then o_O? If the Wii U was being sold at a profit, Mario Kart 8 was released, and the 3DS being the 3DS, aaaand the yen to dollar exchange rate being beneficial for them? WTH Nintendo, how did you do that?

I think we have to blame all the R&D related to Amiibo and N3DS...

Although, it's a real mistery... I remember going crazy over the losses during that quarter.

EDIT: Also, I guess (since they are talking on and on about it) some 3rd party collaborations, and maaaybe, just maybe, the new HQ they were building.

Profit on unsold hardware is in the negative.

There are a lot of ways a company can spend or bleed money. Just selling at a profit is not enough.
