I don't think there's any way the year's gonna end with 12 million units sold. I believe it'll sell 2,500,000 units by the end of the year, including the million extra units Microsoft always ship, bringing up a grand total of 10,275,000 for 2014.

Side note: Am I the only one that finds it funny that the PS4 nearly outshipped XBO ytd shipments in this q alone? |

Now that we are close, here's what I think each sales week will look like. We know Xbox One is undertracked about 500k based on shipment data. We can safely assume Xbox One sales are around 6.8 million by the end of October.
Sales should look like this: Nov 8 300k (price cut and Call of Duty) Nov 15 300k (bundles and Halo: TMCC) Nov 22 300k (bundles and GTA5) Nov 29 900k (Black Friday) Dec 6 450k (holidays) Dec 13 600k (holidays) Dec 20 650k (holidays) Dec 27 300k (holidays) Jan 3 250k
6.8million + 4.05 million = 10.85 million sold to consumers Microsoft usually ships about a million extra units. 12 million by years end! |
ROFl.. it won;t even hit 10.
lolol. a 100 dollar reduction in entry level pricepoint gave a marginal short term increase and you think a 50 dollar one is going to cause sales to skyrocket?
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
So 12 million shipped and only 6 million sold. Meanwhile Sony will have sold to consumers around 18 to 20 million by years end.
Sorry but the sales Xbox gets in America this holiday won't be nothing compared to what Sony gets worldwide. Xbox should get around 1.5 million sold in America this Christmas while ww it won't be very much so Xbox is looking at 8, maybe 9 million max ww by years end.
So Xbox will probably be close to 10- 11 million units behind Sony by Jan 1st. What is even worse is Xbox doesn't have anything remotely big releasing next year until halo 5 NEXT year. Meanwhile Sony has some pretty big stuff lined up for Feb with lots of big multiplats hitting too.
So while Xbox will have a wonderful holiday in the US, the bigger picture which is ww isn't looking very good. Which translates into a much smaller install base for the ONE.

Well X1 is cheaper than PS4 so I think it should provide a bigger boost than the $100 price cut.
