Yeah, but that's a Walmart exclusive Wii U bundle. There's also a Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land bundle that's available in more thsn just Walmart.

Think XB1 will put a lump of coal in the Wii U's stocking? | |||

What about a Mario Kart bundle?
If XB1 takes aim at the family market this holiday - say something like a Minecraft tie I bundle or Plants and zombies - really anything that is targeted at the family- then I think it will hurt the Wii u but it will be hard to tell due to both consoles havering a strong lineup this holiday - so both will sell very well-
Generally I think with the help of Minecraft XB has chance to continue reaching the next gen of gamer before and instead of Nintendo- Minecraft is so big with the next gen of gamer I have to imagine many kids this year are telling parents and Santa they want Minecraft more than Mario- If Nintendo had Minecraft it would be a lock for parents to go to but w out it and w out a few more family options avail for Wii U, I think XB will capitalize this holiday .... But it will be hard to know how much till months later

I think you are under estimating the draw Minecraft has on the upcoming gen of gamers- they are getting their Nintendo fix on the 3DS but many of the kids 6, 7, 8 and on up are totally enthralled w Minecraft - There will be many kids tell their parents they want Minceaft for Christmas and the price drop combined w Minecraft on XBox (one or even 360) plus Smash on 3DS makes a compelling reason to shift
i already have a Wii u for our household but if I was buying my 8 year old a console this year it would have to have Minecraft on it period- I know many/most of his friends feel the same - look on Youtube and it is clearly not just a local must have trend in our area.
I am very disappointed Nintendo did not get Minecraft for the reasosn above - I think they will lose a lot of potential first timers and end up sharing quite a few existing families due to missing that opportunitty this Holiday

Yeah it was a silly decision not to make one. A white MCC X1 bundle for $349 would have been huge. |
Agreed. It's pissing me off that they don't have one. My decision is much harder now, as I really don't want any games that they offer in the reduced price bundles. I would maybe get the Advanced Warfare bundle, but I am not spending the extra money for 1 TB of memory. I don't need it. I definetely don't want A.C.. And I have mixed feelings on both a white Xbox One and Sunset Overdrive. So I'm really not sure what I'm supposed to do...
I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.
| cycycychris said: No, different markets. The price cuts are going to affect some of Sony sales, not Nintendo's. People who are going to be buying the Wii U for the family aren't going to switch to Microsoft system so they buy 1st person shooters. They want Nintendo family friendly games. The people who want to play Mario Kart and Smash aren't going to switch there buying to Microsoft since MCC is about to come out. But, people may change there mind when they figure out they are able to get AC:U on the Xbone for cheaper than the PS4 and buy the Xbone instead. But someone who is a platformer fan isn't going to buy a Xbone since there's a small discount. Basically as I said, Nintendo has a different crowd than Microsoft this Christmas. |
Its funny how people say different market when they are offering up games from the same genres core gamers tend to like.

That's one game, even with ZombiU how many "adult" or "mature" games are there on the Wii U? The majority of the games on the system are either targeted at a family or a younger audience, having the odd game here and there that caters to a different crowd doesn't negate that. There's also the other factors of price, form factor, lower power usage, free online for all games, even bundles which makes the system fit more into a family or younger market, because those markets want something that is easily accessible to them and that doesn't cost too much.
This thread is about XB1 taking away sales from Wii U, not Wii U lightly stepping on a small section of the market of it's supposed competition.

There will be some impact yes. But there isn't THAT much overlap between their audiences I think.

Nintendo recently released two new versions of the Wii U Deluxe bundle. One version includes Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land (which is available in many retailers) and the other version includes Mario Kart 8 and Nintendo Land (which is exclusive to Walmart).
