But it isn't getting any core buyers on board, it's appealing to Nintendo fans and since there are no Nintendo franchises coming to XB1 it won't steal any fans.

Are you honestly suggesting that Nintendo fans aren't "core buyers"?

Or that games like Bayonetta 2 aren't appealing to "core buyers" who aren't "Nintendo fans"?

This is the point i'm trying to address because many have forgotten that before Sony got into the gaming industry, Nintendo had  the stable stream of core buyers supporting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd party.

If XB1 takes aim at the family market this holiday - say something like a Minecraft tie I bundle or Plants and zombies - really anything that is targeted at the family- then I think it will hurt the Wii u but it will be hard to tell due to both consoles havering a strong lineup this holiday - so both will sell very well-

Generally I think with the help of Minecraft XB has chance to continue reaching the next gen of gamer before and instead of Nintendo- Minecraft is so big with the next gen of gamer I have to imagine many kids this year are telling parents and Santa they want Minecraft more than Mario- If Nintendo had Minecraft it would be a lock for parents to go to but w out it and w out a few more family options avail for Wii U, I think XB will capitalize this holiday .... But it will be hard to know how much till months later

I think many people are forgeting that Nintendo has been trying to win back to core audience. Minecraft is a great expansive title but it is still competition and yes it does help to pull peoples eyes away from Nintendo, but I don't believe the marketing has begun yet for that. Both are vying for second place position now. I definitely could agree that Minecraft could be more popular than Mario, but don't you think that would be for another iteration of the game rather than the original which sold very well across consoles and alternative platforms to consoles?  I agree though, it will take a while for us to find out. This will be quite a quarter.

No, different markets. The price cuts are going to affect some of Sony sales, not Nintendo's. People who are going to be buying the Wii U for the family aren't going to switch to Microsoft system so they buy 1st person shooters. They want Nintendo family friendly games. The people who want to play Mario Kart and Smash aren't going to switch there buying to Microsoft since MCC is about to come out. But, people may change there mind when they figure out they are able to get AC:U on the Xbone for cheaper than the PS4 and buy the Xbone instead. But someone who is a platformer fan isn't going to buy a Xbone since there's a small discount. Basically as I said, Nintendo has a different crowd than Microsoft this Christmas.

The Wii U is not the Wii. The Wii U screams more core like the gamecube and N64 than family even though the games are more family friendly.

Not really, think they're going after different audiences.

That is partially true, BUT, there is also alot of people who are interested in games available on different platforms and/or are planning to have more than one console. Now, most people cannot by two platforms at the same time, so what they do is they get one of them first, and the other in the next year or two years later

Take me for example, On the Wii U I want to play: Zelda WW, Zelda U, SM3DW, MK8, Bayoneta 2, Zombie U, Lego City Undercover, Zonic Boom and a few others.

On the Xbone I want to play Killer Instinct, TitanFall, Halo MCC, Halo 5, Mortal Kombat X, Quantum Brake, Sunset Overdrive, AC Unity, FarCry 4, GTAV, Dragon Age Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, etc.

Now, even though I'm not planning to buy any of those consoles this year, if I was going to, I would've picked the $350 X1. Maybe if the Wii U had been $50 cheaper, my decision would be a little bit tougher.

Of course I'm not saying that everybody is in the same position as me. I'm just giving you an example that things are not THAT black and white.

Nope, Wii U has a great line-up of exclusives, more targeted at the audience that would be interested in those kinds of games, Xbox One doesn't have anything to appeal to that audience.
If price is a factor, then Wii U would be the system to go for, because it's cheaper.
Form factor could also be seen as a selling point as well as free online.

Wii U could also be seen as a great family system and the price makes it more appealing to that audience.

XB1 will no doubt get slightly better sales because of this price drop than it would have done if MS had kept it at what it was before, but this repeated slew of policy changes, price drops could actually work negatively against Microsoft because people may actually just wait until the next price drop happens or Microsoft releases an even cheaper slimmer model of XB1.

So I guess Nintendo funding Bayonetta 2 wasn't to lure hack n slash gamers from the Playstation and Xbox over to Nintendo, eh?

That's one game, even with ZombiU how many "adult" or "mature" games are there on the Wii U? The majority of the games on the system are either targeted at a family or a younger audience, having the odd game here and there that caters to a different crowd doesn't negate that. There's also the other factors of price, form factor, lower power usage, free online for all games, even bundles which makes the system fit more into a family or younger market, because those markets want something that is easily accessible to them and that doesn't cost too much.

This thread is about XB1 taking away sales from Wii U, not Wii U lightly stepping on a small section of the market of it's supposed competition.

I was proposing a thought or idea. The reason why Nintendo has to get partnerships to get these games is because they are actively trying to win back the more stable core audience back. If they had third party, no one would doubt their intentions of trying to win back core gamers, but they lack it so because everything is dwindled down to 1st and 2nd party everyone continues to question their motives.

This thread is about the idea of the Xbox One taking sales away from the WIi U in essence the struggle for second place. Remember I never said I would post an opinion until I heard everyone elses. Just trying to get everyones thoughts and feelings on the issue.
