The worst part is that even with a good translation iwata said basicaly nothing.

Well he was pretty honest about it. Didn't try to spin it or anything. The motivation was for the seller, not the consumer, doing something to benefit the consumer could benefit the seller, they'll consider it, but they have to work around the things that originally motivated it in the first place, copyright, localization, and marketing efficiency. We all know that last one is probably the most important to them, and Microsoft solved it much faster because they have a lot more money they can put into marketing.
I don't know why, but japanese games always (or at least usually) take more time to translate that games developed in the US or Europe.
In any case, I hope that was an honest question and not the usual PR answer to avoid problems.
Please excuse my bad English.

I think it's more of a willing/investing fear than the difficulty to translate itself.
I am not concerned about region lock or not.
I dont want to play games in japanese.
Im concerned about localization.
Will fatal frame be localized?

I'm sure that's true for some games/genres, not certainly not all. It could be a case of when they start with localization: western games start with it once the script/history is done while japanese start with it when the game is close to finish.
Otherwise, why would Final Fantasy take so long from Japan to the rest of the world?
Please excuse my bad English.

I feel Iwata's pain to a certain degree , it takes a lot of hard work and money to translate and get voice actors for every region. That being said, I wonder if Iwata feels our pain when a game we are REALLY looking forward to doesn't get released Worldwide?
*cough* SMT IV *cough*
it got released just two days ago. US got it July 2013 and we europeans just get a digital download for 20€ not even a translation.
well i dont care about the translation but there are a few who care :D
hopefully they remove it sometime in the near future
