Remember, the Wii was only $250 at launch and the XBO recently underwent a significant price cut including a temporary cut during the holiday season.

My guess is that Sony is in such a strong position that they, like the Wii at the time it was big, doesn't need to drop the price and take a loss just to get higher numbers.

The thing that will prevent the PS4 from shooting up that fast is that it's $150 more than the Wii was. I'm honestly surprised that it's so explosively popular considering that it really isn't boasting a major game changer like the Wii did. In order for the PS4 to generate the same amount of revenue as what the Wii generated at 50 million units the ps4 only has to sell 31.25 million units.

Don´t blame VGChartz alone. The official numbers Sony gave this last year could have point to a stronger hollydays season.

Wii was constantly outselling a long time. No way PS4 beats Wii to 50M. It's a completely other story in the race to 100M.

My prediction was never based on VGC numbers from recent weeks or months, in fact I didn't post here in a long time in any of the weekly sales. I just post in threads with official numbers, like that 18'5 mill PS4 sold by Sony. The only reason I was wrong, in my opinion, is because Sony decided to not enter in the same fight as Microsoft in USA in November and December and XBO stole a lot of sales i was expecting it will go to PS4. That was my mistake, not me believing VGC numbers because for better or worse i know they are not reliable this period of the year.

Relative low sales I meant. What I was doing to make my prediction was comparing official shipment numbers of Wii 2007 vs PS4 2014, and PS4 was always ahead in total shipments until now. I expected a lot of sales this holiday season but i didn't expect Microsoft going "all in" with their pricecuts and bundles in USA. I probably expected 1 mill, maybe even more, PS4 sold in USA than the actual number. I expected greater sales in Europe too. 

4'1m units sold from BF until 2015 is a good number, but it is PS3 level numbers, not Wii level numbers.

When has the PS3 sold to customers 4.2 million from November 23rd to Jan.......? The Wii numbers looked amazing because they were also making a killing in Japan which the PS4 is not. And we dont now the shipment numbers at all for the PS4.

Now I'm using VGC numbers but according to them, PS3 in 2009 sold almost 4 mill in December alone. That was the number I was referring to. Wii sold more than 4m only in December 2007 too according to the same source, and 2008, 2009 and 2010 were even more stronger.

If Sony is counting from BF week, it seems PS4 should have sold "only" around 3-3'5m in December. That's why I made the 20m sold prediction and why i'm disappointed.

2009 was the price cut year I believe when the PS3 became $299. And we only know shipments numbers really.

Wii 2008 was unbeatable. Can't see the PS4 selling 24m next year alone!
