Could this possibly be the device?

It isn't! Resmed is already being sold at amazon.

Similar products have been in the market for so long. Sleep tracking applications are popular on smartphones. I am not sure what Nintendo plans are. We need to know more to assess the chances of QoL being a hit.

It is... Read the IR event on Nintendo Japan (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/141030/05.html) "To achieve the visualization of sleep and fatigue, we have formed a business alliance with ResMed, which is headquartered in the U.S. and is the leading corporation in the world that develops, manufactures and markets medical equipment for the treatment, diagnosis and management of Sleep Disordered Breathing, COPD and other chronic diseases. The company operates business in dozens of different countries around the world while its main business is conducted in the U.S. I understand that they have many users in Japan too. They have now provided Nintendo’s QOL business with the core of the Five “Non” Sensing elements, namely, non-contact sensor measurement technology and sleep condition estimation technology. |
Oh.. so Resmed will provide the essential sensors and tracking internals, and Nintendo will add their own spin on it? Hmm.
Reading the translated briefing, it seems like something I wouldn't mind using. It takes absolutely minimal effort to use, since I don't have to wear it, I don't have to put it in my bed, and I don't have to make a conscious effort to operate it. It would make continuing to use it way easier, so I'll definitely look into this as my sleeping habits are terrible but I don't want to use most sleep monitors on the market.
