They actually did pretty good except for the Phones. Pretty impressive actually. And their gaming division is actually profitable. So thats good. They need to find a way to drive down those mobile loses so they can reap the benefits of their other profitable units. Besides Pictures, everything else was profitable. And all this time people were saying that all of Sony's units are unprofitable. Only one division is holding the company back.

Barely. They don't make a lot of money from anything. And the MC is a key division if you keep in mind that is what drives electronics industry nowadays.

I cant make heads or tails of the graphs but it is definitely a 1 billion USD loss? Not good at all. They really need to axe phones sooner than later.

I'm taking away two (2) things from this;

holyshit, what's up with their mobile division?! That shit is bleeding them dry... seems like they've got everything else under control, but what will they do about mobile?!

So xperia line needs a shake up and the PS4 is demolishing all around it.

18m PS4's shipped by end of year, 10m Xbox ones by end of year.

EDIT: 13.5m PS4's shipped and that is with a non existant Japanese console market....just incredible

Ignoring the mobile slaughter house, it seems like they had a pretty good quarter

I really don't understand why they're so aggressively chasing the mobile market. Based on my limited knowledge on the subject, i feel like they'd be better off concentrating on what's doing well, and focus on more competitive markets once the company as a whole is healthier.
