Forums - Gaming - The most hyped you've ever been? (Movies and games)

With the upcoming release of Interstellar, I was thinking on how hyped I was 2 years ago for Nolan's other movie, TDKR. Anyway, here are my picks for both games and movies:

- Super Mario Galaxy 2: The original game turned out to be one of the best games I had ever played. Over the months, my excitement for the sequel became bigger and bigger. I was looking at news almost every day and even followed the official thread very closely. I don't think I was as excited as much for a game before or after that.

- TDKR: Yup. The sequel to TDK. So cliche, whatever. The years before, I was thrilled. The months before, I was excited. The weeks before, I was super hyped and was watching the trailer over and over. The hours before I was jumping and shaking in excitement. I arrived hours earlier and had a lot of Batman marathons before the movie.

Also, according to random studies, the anticipation of having something can actually be more enjoyable than having the thing.

Jurassic Park... I got to see real dinosaurs man!

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I'm pretty hyped for No Man's Sky right now!

As for in the past... I'd say Touhou 12. Something about 12 interested me more than 13 or 14.

same here and I watched it 5 or more times just to like it a little bit and I failed..I'll probably watch it again.

as for games I was most hyped for Zelda TP and it let me down but not much as TDKR

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

December 2013.

Rosalina trailer.

BOOM. Correct prediction, and months of hate from few people that I talked about smash with - since they all wanted Bowser J. (who is in too!)

Edit: For future, second would be Starfox since I want to try the IP. but First by a avalanche........ Zelda.

For games, I'd have to say GTA San Andreas. It was the happiest long weekend ever.

Right now, the only game I'm getting hyped for is Metal Gear Solid V. I try not to, but I know it will deliver judging by Ground Zeroes.

Movie... I think Avengers: Age of Ultron. I rarely get hyped anymore.

For movies, it's probably The Phantom Menace. I was in high school at the time and totally obsessed with Star Wars. Seeing a brand new Star Wars movie, in theaters no less, was a huge event for me. I remember standing in line for the midnight screening.

For games, it's probably Super Mario 64. I had read all about it in Nintendo Power, marveling at the 3D graphics and the huge, colorful worlds. Finding that N64 (with Mario 64 included) under the Xmas tree was one of the great moments in my young life.

GTA V, now I'm extremely hyped for MGS V TPP.

Hahaha. I was going to say Episode III. I was too young when Phantom Menace released to be hyped for it.

We're limiting ourselves to movies and games though. If OP had allowed books, I would've said Harry Potter. Don't think I've ever been as hyped for anything else as I was for book 7.

I haven't been so hyped for a game since Pokémon Pearl. I remember constantly watching the commercial, trailer, Japanese play throughs, and any other possible snippets of gameplay. I remember forcing my mom to take my brother and me to GameStop to pick up our pre-order as soon as it opened and I remember getting in the car and playing the game instantly. Needless to say I really enjoyed it. Probably put hundreds of hours into my original copy.

Pokémon X and Y might've been able to reach that had my hype not been popped by the announcement of Mega Evolutions. I really hated the thought of them and I really hate their implementation now. In fact, and not exclusively due to Mega Evolutions, X and Y were major disappointments for me.

Recently for movies I was excited for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and it exceeded my hopes. I was also really, really intrigued by Maleficent's first teaser trailer, but the moment I saw the second trailer I knew it was going to be another failure in live-action fairytales from Disney. Major disappointment.
