4. Transformers - Finally a live action film of favorite 80s cartoon...and it sucked.
3. Spider-Man - Favorite super hero as a kid...and the film sucked.
2. Godzilla (98?) - Big budget Hollywood Godzilla film...and it sucked.
1. The Phantom Menace - It's freaking Star Wars...and it suuuuucked.

After these childhood disappointments I honestly stopped getting hyped for films and have been pleasantly surprised thanks to it.

In video games had Bette luck as a kid. Super Mario Bros 3, Super Metroid, Ocarina of Time, and Grandma KID all met or exceeded my expectations.

Xenoblade Chronicles X release trailer Jan 2012. Holy crap I called my brother told him to stop whatever he was doing, get on his Wii U and check that game out! Amazing graphics (which has only gotten better) HUGE world, mechs, it's still hype incarnate.

I am always hyped for Zelda and James Bond. Recently i got very hyped for Guardians of the Galaxy, and right now i am really hyped for Assassin's Creed Rogue and Unity

I think the most hyped I've been was for Finding Nemo

I actually kind of liked the first movie. The rest of them did suck, though.

Never been this hyped for a movie.
As for games, I can think of God of War 3. And, right now, FFXV, even though I don't have the proper console to play it yet. And I won't have for many years...

Pokemon X and Y, South Park the Stick of Truth, and GTA 5 all come to mind. Oh Saints Row 3 as well!

The last time I was super hyped for a game was Pikmin 3. It was the only game I've had to have the exact second it came out since I don't even know when. I don't get hyped like I used to when I was younger, unfortunately. Can't tell if it's the stagnation/over-commercialization of the industry, the natural loss of magic that comes with growing older, or a combination of the two.

Most hyped ever though was probably the launch of the Wii and Twilight Princess. Nothing will ever beat how excited I was.

The last movie I was really psyched for was Muppets Most Wanted, though I Am Big Bird is pretty up there right now. (I'm, uh...a pretty big Muppet fan.)

Most psyched ever for movies, Return of the King. Same story, there just isn't a lot that really gets me going these days. Even the stuff I'm really excited for doesn't quite have the same urgency to it like it used to. But I guess that's life.

Final Fantasy VII.

To this very day, I still remember the moment I saw the commercial. My jaw dropped. Back then, we didn't know everything about what was coming out until we saw the commercials on TV. FF VI had been my favorite game ever up to that point and when you added that to the HUGE graphical upgrade with FF VII, it was just ... I can't even describe how big a deal it was. It was the reason I bought a PS1 after having been a Nintendo fan-kid.
