Forums - Sony - Bloodborne Producer: Targeting 30 FPS because it's better for action games

While a stupid reason to give 30fps does have advantages over 60fps, and it never ruined their past games

Go play Destiny, Last of Us, Uncharted 3, BF4, or MGS:GZ. Its a more capable machine than you think.

I repeat, "Bloodborne looks like a 7th gen game with more polish."

I think you dont understand because you only look visuals and not the whole techs used in the game

Except Infamous SS ( and even this game has not a physic as good as Bloodborne), there is no more impressive exclusive open world on next gen consoles than this one for now ( and Bloodborne use a lot of techs that old gen games like Destiny, TLOU, Uncharted 3, MGS GZ have not ), well there is not a lot

If you say so, buddy.

I'm sure they could bring that same game to 7th gen hardware and it could still feel and play basically the same.

The resources being pushed are mostly visual polish. Such as... 1080p, high quality textures, shadows, etc. Those are where we see a significant hit in cross plat games.

Yeah, it would be exactly the same game, with DS2 physic and visuals and less ennemies and bad framerate, but except for that, exactly the same game

Kojima-san and Naughty god(they at least claimed U4 will run at 60fps though I heavily doubt that) our last beacon of hope.

And Nintendo; their games still typically run at 60fps.
Or did you mean on PS4?

But the Zelda games are 30 fps because they're action games.

Yes, that's why the next certainly wont be at 60 fps : http://mynintendonews.com/2014/01/20/zelda-director-says-future-zelda-games-may-not-run-at-60-fps/

When you want to make ambitious open world action games, you have to choose.

Or maybe it would look more like Tomb Raider or GTAV. 7th gen games that technically more impressive than DS2.

Have you played Destiny on PS3 by the way? That holds up surprisingly well and probably has more enemies on screen along with co-op players. Open world and 30 fps as well! :-O

If it's not an adventure game or some other slow-pacing game where the 30 fps can't hurt gameplay I'd prefer actually 60fps to all those bloated graphics

30fps would be impressive. Dark Souls 1 and 2 have me thinking that it's asking for too much.

I can easily tell who is not a Glorious God Gamer in this thread.

Great example by the way. You don't see anything different. I can tell you, 30fps can feel less disorienting. At 60fps you might get better response time by fraction of a second which is great for first person shooters, but I'm not so sure about third person action adventure games because I feel like its not really helping me there.

Of course Destiny holds up well since it's an old gen game, like most cross gen games, the tech is not really impressive, not so next gen, the art direction is.

Well, just wait for february and digital foundry analysis, you'll surely find some interesting informations about Bloodborne tech
