That is one slim slim profit.
But a profit is a profit! Wonder how many u's they'll ship for Smash and Christmas.

$224 million isn't that slim actually. For three months its pretty good. Though it's inflated by the yen and probably the fact that they were selling many Wii U units are full inventory profit (as they had paid off those systems last quarter).

If Nintendo could make a steady $224 million every three months in net profit, I'd say they'd take it and run at this point (so would Sony for that matter).

Here is some related news about Iwata's recovery from his surgery several months ago.

how do WiiU and 3DS shipments compare to last year? and what are the totals?

It's kind of weird to think about, but being preisdent of Nintendo may have saved his life, because I believe as president of Nintendo he's obligated to get physical check ups every year that caught this issue and allowed it to be treated.

If he wasn't Nintendo president ... who knows ... a tumor like that may have grown unchecked for quite some time (not many people do a yearly check up unless obligated to do so).

Yeah! Four quarters like this and Nintendo can finally have Minecraft on their consoles!

WiiU is up 100% YOY! 300k to 610k. Total LTD is 7.29m

3DS is down nearly 50% 1.27m from 2.49m a year ago, LTD is 45.42m

The most worrying thing is the 3DS really. Damn Pokemon and Smash had better work miracles to improve those sakes, but early indication are good

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Wii U is up from 0.3m to 0.6m, 3DS is down from 2.49m last year (Q2) to 1.27m this year (that's probably the part Nintendo is not going to like a whole lot).

Totals are 3DS was at 3.89 million in shipments last year (Apr-Sept), versus 2.09 million this year for the same period.

Wii U is at 1.12 million for Apr-September versus 0.46 million last year for the same period.

Where are you getting that $224 million figure from? OP only says 215 million yen.

Woah...that's 2 million and NOT $223 million lol

Yeah, they say themselves that the sales momentum slowed for 3DS because of lack of strong titles.
