At the moment, it looks unlikely

Will N3DS help 3DS make it too 100M? | |||

100M isn't out of the question, but Nintendo will need to get some more heavy hitters and continue to support the 3DS and 3DSn when the HDS launches in say 2017/2018

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.
I think its possible, might only do 90 Million but I like to think optimistic!
But wats with people here and their 70M and 60M! Sure I could see 70M before the new 3DS came out, but with how well its 1st week was I think 80M would be realistically Pescimistic! And to the people who were saying they think the 3DS's succesor is gonna come out in 2016, the New 3DS just came out, and it doesnt even come out in everywhere but Japan+Austrailia til 2015, so they'd be going through the extended effort to beef up the hardware in this system, just to completlely replace it a year later, which makes no sense at all

So far, it has one port exclusive that has been announced. Iwata has said there were several other exclusives already in development for the New 3DS. That means exclusives developed by Nintendo, several meaning three or more. Add in the exclusives that we're guaranteed to eventually see from third party developers and yeah. |
" If the New 3DS has a lot of retail exclusives that don't play on the regular 3DS, then it's a new handheld. "
So 3-10 exclusives out of Hundreds will make it its own system? Im srry i have to disagree. 95%+ (or more like 99%) games will be supported with 3ds. It released at japan so starting now count the games :P

After Pokemon and MH4U what game would be possible can push 3DS sales? N3DS Will boosting 3ds sales, but 100M? Bite me
I believe they strayed from their usual practices too much for the new 3ds, allowing people to change covers to a new look in particular.
When a kid scratches his/hers up, or a new model comes out with a design they like better, they can just buy a new cover rather than a whole new console
basically, ability to swap covers will hurt repeat sales in the future.

Perhaps you missed it.

So why you're giving me as-new launch sales I have no idea, also the XL isn't sold out at any of the stores I use, and those range from smaller stores outside of central tokyo, and major stores in shibuya and around the yamanote line.
Maybe it'll push it to less than 80 million, if Nintendo is lucky.
But ~80 million is basically 100 million, so of course!
