You can keep expecting it to be another HH but you'll be dissapointed, your better off believing WiiU>PS4 lifetime WW. Thats 1000x more likely.

The power of the handheld doesn't define the handheld.  The exclusives do.  If the New 3DS has a lot of retail exclusives that don't play on the regular 3DS, then it's a new handheld.

So far, it has 1 port exclusive, it launched in japan with 0 N3DS exclusives and none for at least 3 months will be releasing. Its definitely not goingto have a ton of exclusives, we kno a couple games releasing and all but XC will be compatible with 3ds.

So far, it has one port exclusive that has been announced.  Iwata has said there were several other exclusives already in development for the New 3DS.  That means exclusives developed by Nintendo, several meaning three or more.  Add in the exclusives that we're guaranteed to eventually see from third party developers and yeah.

No, it will certainly not push it to 100 million. Nothing short of a miracle will cause that in the next 4 years.
It might help push it to 80m, though.

The new models don't matter if they aren't supported. The 3DS, both new and old, has to keep getting games from Nintendo and from third parties to keep selling. A price cut on the old models wouldn't hurt, either.

You're wrong . I knew it was gonna be huge, especially thanks to joint launch+bundle with MH4G. Japan are more hardcore about their handhelds than the west.

Again, let's wait to see the legs this will have, there's no denying FW sales are hardly indicating of lifetime sales.

Well, i underestimated you! I agree we have to wait a couple months for it overall, but here are a few things to keep notice of reguarding N3DS.

~N3DS LL completely sold out first 2-3 days, the by far more popular of the 2 sku's

~N3DS currently reporting to sold out in the past day or 2.

~N3DS LL 2nd week wont be as much (lke it potentially could have been Ex: SSB3DS) due to many stores still not having their shipments in yet.

~N3DS/LL has one of the highest launches of all HW revisions/upgrades of all time in Japan

Which is why 2nd and 3rd and even 4th week sales will be even more skewed than usual

LTD for 3DS will be around 70m IMO. I firmly believe Nintendo will release a new handheld by 2016.

Really?  When and where was this announced?

Even as a die-hard Nintendo fan I just can't see 100m happening.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

I suppose it would depend on what the 3DS is at now.
I have no idea... I don't really keep up with sales info anymore.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

It's possible. It's basically twice as powerful as the 3ds in every spec. It is being launched as an incremental update but over time, if popular enough and backed up with enough new 3ds exclusive contented, it might be more like an all new console by the end.

I'm not a die hard Nintendo fan and even I remembered he said it.  You'd  think a Nintendo fan would.

"Due to the enhanced specifications the game will only be available to those who purchase the new hardware, but fortunately Iwata also confirmed that several more exclusive titles are in development."
