i dont think any one is saying we dont want a second install disk. were just saying that its not unfinished content, and that the game can still be played without the patch or while the patch is dl

So you wont be buying any digital games this gen then?

Not sure why you are quoting those 3 low internet speeds, but stop at 20mb.  I have 74mb but you dont seem to have told me how quick mine will be.  More people in the UK have 20mb + than 512kbps.  In fact 90% of home broadband users here are on at least 10mb.

Incidentally... I know you dont like this question, but do you have an xbox or do you intend to buy one.  No need to be angry, its just a question.

The UK represents about .9% of the worlds population, why did you just stop at the UK's population?  Why not a complete breakdown of all internet speeds throughout the world?

PS. Here's a hint, the avg wordwide broadband speed is 20.89Mbps.

Hold up. In order to play? So the disc is a dud without the patch? Please tell me the wording is bad or I'm missing something or else that is really shitty.

If I am not connected to the Internet, can I pop in the disc and play through all 4 campaigns with all the cutscenes entirely without downloading any update? That's really all I need.

You can do what you described, and also a good chunk of MP custom games (from the disc, obviously you'd still want to HAVE a connection to play properly).

Alright cool, thanks.

And the countries that do have higher speeds than the US and UK have proportionally small gamer populations that aren't as interested in Halo as American and English gamers.

wtf does that have to do with gaming populations, gaming populations internet speeds and downloading a halo content package?

Internet speeds are higher outside UK and US in any event.

It's directly related to your request for more breakdowns of internet speeds, and comparing your 74mbps and the avg UK speeds to the rest of the world.  Apparently, it was ok for you to ask a similar question of Tamron, but not ok for someone else to ask you a similar question (even though I did the research, and answered it for you).

And, hate to break it to you, but there are plenty of gamer's who don't have an internet connection.  So, the speeds point is moot, considering you're ignoring those who simply don't have the option.   And no, it's not a matter of cost, some areas are simply outside coverage zones.  There are still areas in Vermont,  that don't have broadband (Even though where I am, I'm way way above the US Avg).  Which is something all games companies (not just Microsoft, or Sony, or Nintendo...all) should be sympathetic too.  Or do you think it's a good idea for companies to just ignore a portion of their fans who won't have that option?

Just because folks voice a concern about something, doesn't mean it's an attack on it.  It's simply a suggestion to have an alternative for those who can't afford, or don't have an internet connection, or have a cap after which they're throttled, of which there are many.

It's a suggestion, to have an alternative, not a demand, not bashing the collection, just a suggestion.  That is all.

The average download pipeline for all G8 countries is 26.8mbps

The average download pipeline for all EU countries is 26.6mbps

The average download pipeline for all OECD countries is 26.0mbps

The average download pipeline for all APEC countries is 22.8mbps

All results are based on results from Ookla's Speedtest

As of December 13, 2013 there were an estimated 2,802,478,934 internet users, out of 7,181,858,619 estimated denizens of the Earth.

Ok, but does that mean they should just ignore those folks who aren't in a country who has a high enough percentage of game X or Y?  That's the point.  The US and UK may be where the collection will do the best business, but there are also areas in the US, that still don't have broadband access.  Again, I'm not hating on Halo, or the collection.  I know allot of people really like the series, I'm just saying there are fans of the series that won't have an easy time downloading something of that size.  Can't believe people are taking this so personally.

Clearly, those people all need to move to Hong Kong

In all seriousness, I get your point. The point I was trying to make is that there are many people who have way higher internet speeds than Americans and the British, but those people come from countries where only a small proportion of the population is interested in Halo. 20 gigs for an update is a lot and if you need a very, very good internet connection if you don't want wait for an excruciatingly long time (not to mention the dreadful installation times, too). It would be a nice gesture if MS releases the collection with a 2nd disc with all that content for the people who don't have good enough connections.

Personally, I'd just like to see a global movement to ensure broadband speeds to all ends of the Earth.  It's a pretty important thing, for way more than gaming, of course.

Jesus I hope they fix that with a second run of discs, that's ungodly huge for any poor bastards with data caps and or slow Internet. I know a couple people who use tethered wifi from their cell phones because they live in areas where there is no broadband, so they get 5gb of lte and going over is redonk expensive.

It's 4 games, it won't fit.

2nd disc, for install only. Hell, include a sticker or pin or something, charge $10 more, and call it the 'complete MCC' hahah.

It would save a lot of people valuable cap space, or in the case of 768k/1.5mbit connections many hours.

1.5mbit with typical internet overhead is 43 straight hours at full bore, lol. And 1.5mbit DSL is fine for gaming, which is much more latency-affected rather than raw bandwidth. A DSL 1.5mbit connection with ~10ms is far superior for gaming to an overloaded cable connection with 35mbit and 60ms latency.

I have a 1.5MB/s connection (Not fast compared to other places by any means) but it still wouldnt take me any where near 48 hours to download this, at the most 5-6hrs ..

By definition if you are at 1.5mbit you could never hit 6 hours even with absolutely zero overhead. It's 22 hours that way. 8mbit = 1mbyte. 1024mbyte = 1gbyte. So to calculate the raw speed you need to multiply 20gb by 8 and then 1024 to get the total mbit you're looking at. That is BIG.  it's not the end of the world and many will have no big problem with it, but it is slightly disappointing and inconvenient for a few.

That's a great idea, and I would give MS serious props for that. People know I'm not a big fan of X1, but I do give credit where it's due and stick to the facts. Like when the SoM rumors were still flying about 720p I found the info showing 900p and posted over and over that 720p was FUD.
