Forums - Sony - If Sony Goes Belly up Who Would be the Safest Pair of Hands for the Playstation Brand?

Sega? Fucking Sega? That's the last company I want near Playstation.

I'd be fine with Amazon, possibly Google or Samsung.

@the two who mentioned Microsoft:
Think of Rare.

@daredevil.shark
This is only for a theoretical discussion based only for exactly that, the sake of discussion.

Sega would be okay. I think they share the same vision as PS does.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Platinum Games.

Nintendo. Because they deserve it.

I'd say Samsung

That old chestnut.  Rare was a mess way before MS got involved.

Bungie seemed to do ok under MS control.

Well, it's unpredictability. Microsoft obviously has no experience to nurture Rare otherwise thus would not be a good candidate otherwise.

Besides, "seemed" proved my point exactly - uncertainty.

The reason why I think many people wouldn't want MS to control PS is their habit of taking a studio and focussing it on one thing that works and nothing else, Bungie being the perfect example, got to do Halo until they were basically sick of it.

Now they have 343 do Halo, Black Tusk do Gears, Turn 10 do Forza, Lionhead do Fable (though they are making a new IP as well, I heard). Once you've made a really successful game at MS, you can be sure that you're going to continue doing that franchise for as long as it works.

Of course Sony and in fact all other publishers do it in a similar fashion but there does seem to be some leeway with Sony, for example I highly doubt that MS would've greenlit something like TLOU, if they had owned ND.

If Sony ever were to collapse I imagine they'd spin off the PlayStation division before it happened, that way the best people possible could look after the PlayStation brand: those currently in charge.

Halliburton, Monsanto or Lukoil...
