This again huh?

Dont like it, dont play it. No need to drag it through the streets because you dont feel confortable with it. Seriously, those guys can't handle the fact that a game doesnt have to worry about beeing a social statement and can just be a fun experience. That is what entertainment is all about.

Of course it's a sexist game. A kick ass sexist game, but still a sexist game. It's unfortunate that such a high quality title needs to rely on sexism to get attantion.
I've taken a stand. I won't buy the game because of what it represents. Too many of my female friends have suffered because of sexism. It's my loss as a gamer, but a loss I'm willing to take.

I dind't get attention to her ass. I got attention to all the action and dragons pulling a King Kong. When you're fighting on top of NYC subway trains and not giving a shit. I want that game.

I don't know if I would call it sexist but it certainly uses sex to sell copies. Now, I don't actually have a problem with that, as I think people go crazy with what "sexist" means, but please don't throw words like "liberated" in there as a counter. Bayonetta is as much about sex as a selling tool as any of those other Japanese games people attack so often. Trying to rationalize that away because you like the game changes nothing. She doesn't do stripper moves or torture angels because she's secure in her femininity, she does it because the creators thought it was sexy and that it would attract guys.

Personally, it's part of why I found the first game goofy and annoying, despite the gameplay. It felt silly and made me feel like the characters were idiots. That's why I never finished the game, I simply did not care about what the game was doing or where it was taking me. And that's fine, the game just wasn't to my tastes, that doesn't mean I think it was bad or wrong.

As far as sexist goes, I'll worry about that when I see women turn out in droves to protest Magic Mike 2.

The fact that lots of girls and young women either feel uncomfortable with sexploitation, or even become victims of it, is enough for me to take a stand against Bayonetta 2. It's not what the game does to me, it's what sexism as a phenomenon tend to do to some people. I've seen teenage girls cut their wrist because they feel inferior in our sexual oriented world. I've seen girls nearly starve themselves to death in their quest to reach a sexual ideal only possible thanks to computergenerated graphics. Bayonetta 2 is unfortunately part of that. It's sad that such a great game experience has to rely on sexism. That's the downside of the market driven world of today.
Great game though! :)

If Bayonetta 2 were sexist, gameplay would involve making meals, cleaning dishes, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house.

It's quite clear that most people in this thread don't have a clear concept of what sexism is. I'll leave it at that because people (and especially gamers for some reason) gets fucking crazy when discussing it.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Women who show their private parts as the main attraction are liberated. I know the japanese culture well and so i know it's normal there, but don't act like this is how it should be.

Characters are Characters.

Get over it.

That discussion is a slippery slope, but this game alone will not make anyone cut themselves. The movement itself though, pushing their agendas and "teaching" girls to feel bad about themselves all the fucking time IS making them cut themselves. Its so vile and disturbed. Girls could care less about all the oversexualized stuff around, but the world constantly tells them that everything is shit and that they should feel like shit. Blargh >.>

The game is indulgent: it indulges in sexual expression. In my opinion, sexist games are games that stereotype a certain gender but apparently, a woman who kicks ass, is not ashamed of her body, and don't need no man is too much for Polygon.
